Whatcha Watchin'? The TV Thread

You can get dual citizenship for Germany now. Or are about too, I was looking into that recently. Not sure what that means for expats who have already been through the process though.

In the past, i drank lots of strong medium roast coffee with half and half. Never sugar.

Now exclusively strong green tea with a bit of raw honey for me.

Beaucoup health benefits, no more annoying acidity or caffeine jitters. I can work and/or practice bass for hours.

Back to the actual topic of this thread: I just finished season 2 of the Interview with the Vampire series. Man, it is great. Fantastic writing, acting, directing, makeup, wardrobe and effects.

Very happy that AMC recently greenlit production of season 3. :+1:

I’m not sure that Holland wants me back. And Germany might already regret, taking me in

lol, the coffee/tea discussion is actually in the 4th of July thread

My point exactly. Cross-pollination, tangents and general obfuscation of thread topics is the de facto rule around here, not an exception. Here’s a tip o’ the mug to ya!

After finishing Curb, I went back and watched the first few seasons again - very worth it.

But needed more, so, in an intense Seinfeld binge right now. Sadly almost done as I’m in season 9 now. Not a bad show in the bunch. Still amazing to this day.

Tonight’s episode of The Acolyte went… pretty much exactly as I expected. Kind of telegraphed but still well done.

I am slowly watching now, just finished the ‘origin’ episode, however, my sights got turned over to House of Dragon (which I ignored until now) and am now seriously obsessed.

Me and my… sigh ex-GF roommate, I guess, recently watched Ted Lasso. That’s a great, great show.

Last night we started Foundation, which looks like it’s going to be pretty damned awesome.

Ugh, sorry to hear - sounds… complicated!

Yeah, it sucks.

Thanks, though.

I’m not digging the Acolyte, slow, poor acting. I am starting to feel like they are cost cutting to get series out. Especially contrasted with House Of The Dragon, which seems to do everything to 11 and it shows. Great story telling vs. quite simplistic ways the Acolyte does it.

What episode are you on? It picks up

It’s showing a different story. It’s not about the Sith. It’s a mirror held up to the Jedi, in a way that has been done a lot in games but rarely in the show.

It also starts out a mystery, but then (kind of abruptly) turns in to Rashomon.

I haven’t watched a Kurosawa film in a while. May be my next TV binge. Throne of Blood here I come.

Acolyte isn’s subtle about it - it pretty much just goea from a mystery to Full Rashomon over the course of one episode.

Season finale was good. looking forward to Season 2.

It’s a very different story but very in line with the more nuanced take of games like KotOR 2.

taken as a whole I think it was quite good. It’s one of those like Kenobi that starts out very very different than it ends. Well done overall with a couple cringey moments early on.

Between episodes of a few series, we watched “The Beekeeper” tonight, it was enjoyable! My wife somehow thought it was a romantic comedy prior! She was surprised!

I’m going to check it out.

Just rewatched both seasons of Mindhunter, which has the fingerprints of David Fincher (Seven, Fight Club) all over. Meaning: it’s GREAT! Especially Cameron Britton as Ed Kemper…

As I wanted to stay within the same theme, I am now (re)watching Manhunt: Unambomber.
I find everything Unabomber quite interesting, as (domestic) terrorism was one of the topics of my studies (psychology of the RAF, Unabomber, Red Brigades)… and kept my interest in it as kind of a “hobby”…
Also it’s using linguistics as a plot device, so that’s also very interesting (“Wudder”…)

Unfortunately, Manhunt is not very good. It’s not bad - but after Mindhunter every related series can only loose, I guess.

Much more interesting (but a little “new age”) is this documentary:
