I studied across the Rhine in Moenchengladbach for a bit in my teens, and visited Köln often. Yes, I know about the football rivalry between the 2 towns but didn’t really care… lol.
Ah, the middle of nowhere ![]()
I don’t care for football, especially in Germany! But Köln is the best city in Germany otherwise … loved it, truly!
LOL, it really felt that way some days…
Reacher on prime was a pretty good time. It’s not usually my bag, I’m more into horror, not so much military police lol, but the writing was good and there’s lots of badassery porn. Plus Alan Ritchson is super hot.
I just watched the final episode of Alien: Earth on Disney+ last night. I liked this series a lot more than I expected. They did a really good setup for a second season. I hope it comes sooner than later.
Also, there’s a terrific series from Spain on Netflix called The Billionaires Bunker (Spanish with English subtitles). I just watched the final episode a couple of nights ago. Well setup for a second season. Really interesting premise that I won’t spoil here.
Haven’t watched the final episode yet, but:
- I found the series boring and just a simple fan-service until about episode 7
- it was more like a bad BladeRunner tribute with some alien elements. And still I wish they wouldn’t demystify the alien chreature - by too much exposure & making it basically to a pet…
- Why did they send one emergency paramedic but dozens of armed forces to a huge emergency? WTF?
- Usually, I like Timothy Olyphant, and clearly his character is modelled after Ruger Hauer’s Roy in BladeRunner. But … really?
Sydney Chandler is ABSOLUTELY GREAT!!!
You make some valid points, but you didn’t mention the eyeball creature. It’s an excellent addition to the scary creature list. Tell me what you think after Episode 8. I love the way they ended it.
[Minor spoiler]
The fact that Sydney’s character can communicate with the xenomorph is f’ing brilliant for potential future storylines.
It’s a great idea, I admit.
BUT: it’s like that mysterie girl on the dance floor that becomes so very common as soon as you get to talk to her. All magic disappears.
I liked the aliens in the original movies better. You didn’t know what/if they were thinking. You did not know their intentions. There was no way of communicating with them. And nobody would even think of controlling them. Also did not see them so often (think: Jaws!), and mostly this was only partly & in the dark.
The most fearesome things are the things you don’t see, understand or can control!
We just finished binge watching For All Mankind! Awesome series, can’t wait for season 5! Everything else was on hold. We finished “Countdown” and have one episode of “Chief Of War” left.
For All Mankind was one that I picked up during the Covid lockdowns. Such an awesome show. I binged that one right after my 2nd or 3rd time through the Expanse. I thought Chief of War was pretty rad too, I couldn’t help but think that it helps if you’ve lived in Hawaii.
I enjoyed The Expanse too, I’m looking forward to the continuation series if it ever comes out!
If you like Jason Momoa, the 3 seasons of “See” on Apple TV+ are great.
I’d love for them to do the rest of the books, but I’m not sure how they’d go about it and I don’t know that it would be as well received by folks who have only watched the show.
Yeah. They are great but hit… different, once the portals are the thing. In a way the in-system intrigue is just a great TV show.
Just saw the final episode of Chief Of War. I really hope they do season 2! Now catching up on season 3 Of Daryl Dixon! As crazy as it’s been, I’ve stayed loyal to TWD.
Been watching Deadwood yet again. This is at least the fourth time I’ve watched this series so far.
David Milch’s unparalleled writing and creative vision, not to mention the myriad unforgettable character depictions, make this series nothing short of contemporary Shakespeare. Truly outstanding work by all.
After having watched a great documentary about Kate Bush, I am rewatching Stranger Things now, cause: “Running up that Hill”
Yes Sir, me too.
I really love TWD. Of course it has had its weak moments, but it’s still my favorite series of all times. At the moment, I’m also watching Daryl Dixon in Spain.
