What's an easy to play bass?

OP will spend all his time twiddling knobs/switches and never get to playing it :joy:

Look at Schecter 2794, it’s very sexy. But it’s a bit pricey.

Not suggesting it to the OP. Just answering a question asking if a Sire M5 exists. And, boy, does it!

Makes it easy to play a krappy bass line. Unlike Davie. He gets a surprising amount of bass line out of a single string.

The guy is a very talented bass player!

That he is.

I may be the only one who dislikes Davie. I don’t like his personality.

There are a lot of good single string bass exercises

I was torn on this issue buying my first bass as well - I wanted a “proper instrument” but had no idea what I wanted to play.

I was ultimately deciding between a Fender Precision, PJ, and a Music Man Sterling?

The sterling is smaller scale and I believe is kind of a price cut from the “Stingray” model, it felt a lot more like what I was used to playing guitar and was easy to hold and play.

Ultimately I decided on a classic p bass and have just had fun with the growing pains of stretching and shifting. P bass army always guilts you about clean tones for learning

“Davie504” is all an act he does - he even tries to do it when he’s filming with other YouTubers. It’s a bit of a put-off if your watching the channel strictly to appreciate music because it ties more into the silly antics he does.

You can tell from people that have met him he’s probably really chill.

Davie504 is a truly talented bass player, for sure. His comedy schtick is one-note, though.

But nobody can argue with the success he’s had attracting eyeballs and YT subs. Will it last? Who knows.

But it is mesmerizing to watch his mammoth hands and spider-like fingers flit effortlessly all over the fingerboard. Kinda like a certain “Your Trusty Bass Teacher” we all know and love.

Davie’s YouTube channel is what made me want to pick up a bass and start playing. He just made it look so fun.

I can’t stand how he mocks other people and excuses it as an act. I can’t get past that.

SLAP!!!

That, and his deadpan delivery, would be the one note.

I’ve seen a video where he breaks character and cracks up. It really humanized him. Maybe he’ll have the confidence to drop the schtick and just play or teach some day. He started off just playing, but I think, like many who act, he is actually a shy person. Whatever. The mofo can play, that’s for sure.

I’ve seen some of his videos where he relaxes a bit, especially when his girlfriend joins him…and his battles with Charles Berthoud are epic. They play off each other well.

You’re right. The stuff he does with Charles Berthoud elevates the whole thing.

And the vids where he includes his girlfriend are cool, especially when she plays stuff he’s taught her. Man, what an opportunity to learn first-hand from a player of his caliber. I wouldn’t want to sleep with him to have that opportunity, though. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

LOL how did we get so off topic? Their styles are so different too, Charles’ specialty is tapping while Davie’s is slap.
