What's the deal with effects and pedals? (Also: sound in general)

There are 2 blind bassists on the TalkingBass group. I don’t know how they do it, but they do.

That tells me I need to stop looking at my fretting hand, immediately.

Just the way I like it

LOL Behringer you crazy fools, we love you

$29!

Eurorack is a modular synth style where you have a bunch of synthesizer modules in a rack facing out with tons of TRS patch points on their faces. You use patch cables to connect them (and to connect parts of individual synthesizers) to get the sounds you want. It’s a cool idea for pedals and exactly what a synth player would want.

I mean, they must mean $29 per pedal, right? RIGHT?

This would be awesome for synth players; I used to run mine into discrete pedals and this would be way more convenient.

Wow, seems pretty crazy.
If it were only $29 total, it would almost be criminal, insane, or both, to not get one.

It’s gotta be per pedal.

A few changes. Got rid of the really really great hall of fame 2 chorus. I highly recommend it and it has a great assortment of toneprints. But the simple fact is, I don’t really need 14 different choruses. And the Zoom has a bunch anyways which are just fine for me (and I love the new “cave” one). The simple fact is I need more space on my board.

Replaced the sub n up for the mini one. The sub n up is on reverb if any of you are interested.

Bought a simple but very nice saturnworks A/B switch. It’s also on reverb, cheap. I wanted to use it to switch inputs on my new amp between 2 basses without unplugging. Unfortunately you can’t plug into both amp inputs simultaneously.

And finally… I got a beat buddy! Really fun. The drums sound really good and it’s simple to use. If not familiar, it’s not a drum machine per se, but more like glorified drum tracks on your phone. You pick a style, pick your tempo, and stomp on it, instant drummer. You can stomp again for fills, transitions, outro’s and intro’s. Very cool.

I almost bought one of those, but opted for the Electro-Harmonix POG instead. The Sub n Up seems like a nice octaver too.

Can’t go wrong with either :+1:

my current goal with pedals : choose which overdrive I will use to build a new pedalboard. I might order soon the two Darkglass clones provided by Musicding.

I already have all the other pedals and elements, including a brand new little PSU and stupidly expensive EBS patch cables.

comparing Darkglass compact pedals. my preference, based on the videos : Alpha Omicron > Vintage Microtubes > B3K v2

Same order for me. But for me, Microtubes X beat the others:

Nice BB734A he has there too

Starting at 3:18 or so he has them soloed.
