What's the deal with effects and pedals? (Also: sound in general)

Hmm actually this worked rather well for a first shot:

Kind of a G-K tube vibe there.

I think if I added in some harmonics and played with the mid dynamics a bit it would be reasonably convincing for such a simple approach

Also, I love MultiPass so much.

Nice tones you’re squeezing out with Multipass & Faturator. They sound very clean & nice! I love Multipass’ simple approach to let you do what you want in any order. Very useful.

Thanks!

Yeah, I bought in to the KiloHearts snapins due to Phase Plant being my synth but I find myself using MultiPass even more than the synth.

You’re welcome! That’s how they get you. You give the devil your finger & he pulls your entire body in.

I’ve actually used the snapins & Multipass alot. It’s pretty light on CPU + the UI is so clean & straight to the point.

Yeah! Basically all their stuff is very efficient, both in terms of CPU and utility. I really love their stuff. Lot of the effects work great with guitars and bass. Both MultiPass and SnapHeap come with some really useful presets too.

Yes they are, I can quickly build complex patches from scratch. I love how all I have to do is think it but Multipass can just seamlessly make it happen for me.

I’ve noticed there’s been more companies following that style of workflow. Just leaving you to a sandbox to do what you want in any way that you want.

I’ve also been liking IK Mixbox but mostly for coloring & less for utility + wild tasks like with Multipass.

Because Multipass can get very experimental & just generally mental quick since you can go balls to the wall on a sound design binger going any way you want accurately.

Yeah exactly. Especially given how numerous and good the SnapIns all are.

Not sure if this one’s been posted, but if you want to get absolutely rude with it, here’s a plasma pedal:

and this is it. I was going to buy the smallest Ojai to power the HX stomp. line 6 says the HX needs 1500 mA (and a special cable to connect it) but a power supply that has two 400 mA/9v ports will work, testing has shown the stomp will work with a minimum 800 - 900 mA. you have to buy a special Y cable to combine the 2 ports power together and it has to fit the stomp. voodoo labs makes one.

but I’m so glad I didn’t get the $150 Ojai. cuz on reverb, I found sweetfoot pedals.

handmade, hand painted and approved by line 6, they make a 1500 (!) mA supply starting around $45!!! :flushed: and it comes with the correct cable that fits the stomp, so you don’t even need to order one. my power supply was a little more, $80 (still a screaming bargain), but has a 1500 mA tap and two 500 mA taps, amazing. @JT

From another thread…

@Paul since you mentioned it in your response to my question about feedback…

Do you (or anyone) have a suggestion for a worthy, yet inexpensive DI box?

Behringer BDI-21!

Seriously just buy it - best value in pedals. Great tone in that thing, and works as a passive DI when bypassed.

There’s other options, but if you don’t have a BDI-21, you should buy one anyway. Really really great tone and a fantastic value. Like $35 new.
