What's the deal with effects and pedals? (Also: sound in general)

Yep, right before the amp.

Run its out to your amp and the DI to your DAI. Unplug your amp from the DAI.

Itā€™s out of stock everywhere :frowning:

Itā€™s insanely popular for a reason.

Agreed! I have one too.

I said it in another thread, but the pedal is so good itā€™s worth recommending it twice!

Iā€™m not sure when it comes to gear (or anything really) worthy and inexpensive should be part of the same sentence. Iā€™ve been down that road and old saying ā€œbuy cheap, buy twiceā€ applies here perfectly.

Iā€™m using this one:

Yes, itā€™s expensive, but itā€™s indestructible and will last you forever. I bought it second hand from reverb for quite bit less but it was worth every penny.

This thing is last in my chain and goes directly into my DAI through XLR cable. It solved all my impedance issues with my preamps and pedals and it works perfect. I highly recommend this if you can get a good price on it.

I agree with that completely. I should have included the word ā€œrelativelyā€ in front of inexpensive. The idea being, I donā€™t want to spend an arm and leg for bells and whistles that donā€™t do anything to solve the problem, nor do I wish to pay a premium price for a trendy brand name (which is why Iā€™ve never owned a Harley).

Generally I do agree with this sentiment completely, but the BDI-21 is incredible. It just happens to have a DI (xlr port) but it is actually a clone of the Tech 21 Sansamp BDDI. It adds tone too, and honestly it arguably sounds better than the real thing.

That said, cheap is usually not the correct route.

Itā€™s a circuit clone. Itā€™s exactly the same as the original SansAmp BDDI.

Sure, itā€™s cheap, but with behringer the ā€œwarrantyā€ is just buy a second one if it breaks and still save money. You could buy four for the cost of a SansAmp.

Also the BDI-21 happens to be built like a little tank. Solid pedal, unlike most of their line.

Behringer also has really good synths. There are dozen of YT videos where they compare Behringer products with top of the line products. Sure, the materials are usually less good and it looks cheaper but the result are usually on par with products that are far more expensive.

Their TB-303 clone sounds exactly like a real 303. I assume itā€™s a circuit clone too.

This one is even cheaper and has been around for a long time as good cheap alternative so if you donā€™t need preamp stuff check it out:

I picked up a vocal mic from them and the construction of it and sound is absurdly good. Itā€™s even heavy and solidly built.

Hmm. The XM8500 mic I got from them was absolute dogsh*t. heavily, solidly built, and with half the sensitivity it should have had. Instant return, absolute garbage.

Iā€™m a big fan but even I couldnā€™t like that pile of sh*t

Mics are one place it makes no sense to skimp because the difference in price between the functional best and the worst is less than $100 - because the Shure SM58 only costs $100. Thereā€™s definitely (much) better mics along specific usage factors, but probably few overall all around better mics.

Given, I donā€™t sing so I have no concept of good or not lol. But was impressed with the construction

Yeah it was built like a tank, true. Love the box it came in too.

Itā€™s basically a karaoke mic

The only other thing I might need it for is acoustic guitarā€¦havenā€™t tried it yet, but may have to grab a shure for that later
