What's Your DAI (Digital Audio Interface)?

Only three can that I am aware of, the original B3 (but not B3n), the B2four, and the B6.

I have the B1Four.
I was playing around yesterday and god some interesting results but no resolution.
My jack to USB cable does have a circuit board inside and an LED which lights up similar to a working flashdrive, the Mac seems to recognise it as audio but I could not see it noting it as a soundcard (this is an older Macbook if that means anything).
I connected various combinations of bass, Zoom and Mac, using the aux to my amp and usual wireless speaker.
What I seem to get is movement on the audio bars within Guitar Rig indicating input and output, sometimes this makes sense but sometimes it seems random noise- I have tested this with the inbuilt tuner and this bears that out.
I got some noise from the amp for 3 notes but then nothing and couldn’t replicate.
I think I will test it all out on the upstairs PC as I am more familiar in that area (only using this Mac because it was free).
All in all strange results I can’t unpack.

I forgot to add I also have these iRig interfaces which I put into the chain:

I have that. It’s not configured to be a DAI I think. But you can plug it into to manage the software/pedals/effects etc. ToneLib I think is the program.

I have tonelib for the Zoom, great program and source.
Testing on the PC right now

Yeah it’s pretty good. I think your answer is to pony up and buy a DAI and your troubles will be solved.

Strongly recommend just buying a real audio interface, yeah.

Oh, I will get one, just not right now- Xmas plus i have other things on the go and this is a low priority.

Sooooo, I gave the USB cable a go on the PC and it recognises it but the Guitar Rig program won’t talk to it and the speakers yet.
The iRig jack connection works but with a lot of noise, so progress.
I just need to work out how to add to the components now- zero instructions with this thing and I haven’t really been looking for them online yet- as I said low on the list of things to work out right now.

Tell the kids Santa got Covid and unfortunately didn’t make it (they have to learn the world isn’t fair at some point) and buy a cheap DAI. Sorted!

RIP Santa. Oh well kids, here’s a bus pass and some job applications down at the coal mine.

Hmmmm Xmas.
Got my son a guitar, daughter some wireless microphones (she sings), wife not sure but won’t be cheap.
I have a whammy and roller bridge for the Bass VI plus stringjoy VI set coming.
Annnnnnd my project guitar has a pickguard and body on the way.
Recording myself comes after all that

Seems like a DAI for your wife for Xmas will solve your problem. Might create a new problem, though . . .
.

My wife is buying me a pedal for Xmas. It’s simpler when you say what you want :sunglasses:

My wife and I have been doing this for about 15 years.

This seems so strange. I know @Lanny used an iRig and Mac without any issue.

I run an M-Audio mostly because I had no idea what I was doing and it was cheap and fast on Amazon. But no complaints, it does what it does, works as a clean input to PC/JBL monitors. I’m generally option-phobic when it comes to this kind of stuff because I don’t know stuff XD

Been many moons since I used an iRig set up @eric.kiser…. Only used it when Connie and I traveled in our motorhome back in the day…. Didn’t have issues with it, but certainly not as robust and versatile as using a DIA…

These look ridiculously good.

(checks price)

Oh… I see.

Still, those specs. Kind of amazing how good the pro tier is. 30dB better SNR than the SSL2+ or MOTU. ADAT support and 24 channels with an internal soft mixer. Crazy.

(to be clear - it’s really unlikely that most (likely all) of us would benefit from this thing over something like a MOTU or Focusrite.)

I’ve been wanting to upgrade my Focusrite Scarlett Solo Gen 2 for a while now, and narrowed my choices down to a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Gen 4 and an Audient ID4 MkII.

Decided to go with an ID4 as they are both around the same price point, but today I saw a ‘prime day’ sale for the 2i2 that knocked $60 off the price… so probably going to stick with Focusrite.

Yeah! I first saw it I thought Gotta gidmeone, then I saw the price, and that’s my exact reaction
