Where’s the one-stop-shop-magic-music-box?

Well I just got 2 for $118 each shipped. Even lower than street price. @Mike_NL want one lemme know I’ll give my rep another call. Since you are on the other side of the stream just have to cover the shipping.

I actually don’t think this would work…

I have 4 basses and a multi-effects pedal. Say I use the clean patch…

…any of the basses can be made to sound different depending on the combination of pickups selected - bridge / neck / both etc., plus by fiddling with the tone and volume knobs.

….-and there is huge variation between the basses themselves. Even if one tried to mimic the settings between them, ie my Dingwall sound very different to my Ibanez, which in turn is completely different to my Spector.

I’ve created patches on the pedal for specific songs, but have realised that those patches only really work for the bass I used when setting it up, not a different one….! Lucking I can save more patches than I could ever actually remember!

I’d like to try those Ampero one day. Looks very cool, for a nice form factor and a cool price tag.

Well all companies already made this decades ago. As the matter of fact these 3 are on the preset on most, whatever device you select. If you want to do tone match there are a few companies that would do that too. Line6, boss, positive grid Spark series, to name a few. Most if not all will get you very close to what you are seeking but to get exactly like it/them would be pretty difficult because each artist spends loads of time finding their special sauce and they are not sharing. :joy:

For the money, it’s excellent. Loads of pedal sims, loads of amp and cab sims. Granted it’s biased towards guitars, but there are some factory bass patches that work pretty well, and once you dive in and start playing around with it, you can create all sorts of tones. It’s got quite a cool feature where ti can set a patch then vary one of the parameters with a tap of the control switch. I have the patch in the pic set up so that it is either a ‘dry’ clean sound, or with a click of the control button, with some reverb (I think there are 10 basic reverb options, each one of which can then be tweaked).

It also acts as a DAW and has a stereo output, which is super fun. I’ve run it directly into a mixing desk with great results, plugged it into an amp - great results - and you can also plug in headphones (and an aux input) for silent practice. As I say, for the money, it’s excellent!

Haha, I was just messing with you, @Al1885  I very recently bought an almost €1000 bass, so I’m gonna hold back on the GAS for a while. I do appreciate the offer very much though!

:joy: anytime @Mike_NL. I’ll hold off on these for a month or 2 then they are going on ebay.

Try it with your Musikdings frequency splitter you built and send only the high channel through it, and pass the low channel clean

Line 6 did something similar with the beans but it was more about giving cute names to famous amp styles, rather than bands.

@howard I have two of those kits (Pro-cessor) but I have not build them yet  (I plan to build one in a regular box, and the other one in a Cry Baby box to be able to manage the balance between the two channels with the expression pedal)

That said I have the Buff’n’blend pedal, which somewhat adds a blend knob on every pedal plugged in the loop. Worth a try !

true, but you can find tons of settings/presets online for every POD, to match a lot of famous songs

I found out that the Tonebridge app I posted about above does have a bass gat section now
it does what you are asking for so you might like to check it out

it has 4000+ track presets for bass

Yeah, that’s exactly what I was thinking. I wonder if you can play it thru an amp however? It looks like you play through iPad or phone speakers. Do you know if there is a way to play through an amp?

I would think there would be a way to use the app and any standard audio interface to play into the app then send the tone out to an amp through the interface, but I haven’t explored it…I find the concept interesting but I am happy using my pedal board and tube amp for tone so don’t need it
I would definitely still be interested to hear what you (or anyone else who downloads it) finds out, especially how good the tone matching function is

I don’t think there is a one stop, one shop, magic stompbox that can do all that. Especially with artists like the Beatles. So many different tones happening throughout their albums.
I haven’t found the magic box, but I do go to https://equipboard.com/ when I’m attempting to recreate a bassists tone(s).
It doesn’t give any info on things like technique, but it does list the different gear used live and in the studio. It lists basses, strings, amps, cabs and effects by whatever artist youre looking up.
