Hi @Ryo_Yamada_lover03 … apologies for the above… This community is better than what ‘was’ above (now edited and sanitized).
You asked about a T-bird… T-Birds do look cool… but there is 1 notorious trait to the T-bird… neck dive. That HUGE headstock on them, adds a LOT of weight where there shouldn’t be weight added.
Everyone else though is bang on… get into a music shop, and get hands on… when you find the right one, you will know. That ‘right’ bass… will literally catch your eye from across the store… and you won’t be able to resist it
BTW this looks like a perfectly fine Jazz Bass to me, and ESP makes good stuff. So from there, maybe look at other pickup types? Lots of P-basses and humbuckers in rock too.
Your jazz bass is perfectly capable of getting you there.
What you need to add in order of importance:
Play with a pick
Fresh strings
Equalizer preamp (probably bump high mids)
Overdrive or Compressor
Once you’ve done that, if you’re still finding things lacking, only then would I be looking at the bass itself as needing to change.
Now - if you want a new bass because you want a new bass, there is nothing wrong with that. But if you want a punchy rock tone, there are other things you can do that will have a bigger effect for cheaper.
