I still kick myself in the bASS every day for getting rid of the 80’s Rickenbacker and Gibson Victory…ugggh!
I lost my teddy bear on the London tube when I was 6. I was devastated. I imagine he’s probably settled down by now. Maybe with a nice female bear and raised some cubs. He probably works in insurance.
@Darkhorse41, to answer your question, I regret selling my Danelectro Longhorn short scale. It wasn’t fancy or expensive, but it was a great sounding bass that was super-easy to play.
On the other hand, I don’t regret getting rid of the only Fender I’ve owned: a 73-74 Jazz.
I also don’t miss having my 74 4001 Rickenbacker. Just never gelled with it.
I don’t regret selling any bass except if I were collecting I would have held on to my SBV-550 after upgrading to the 800MF, just because it was relatively rare and was awesome.
I occasionally miss my TRBX604 as I loved it so much, but after buying the SBV and the BB I just never played it.
I sold my Tele Bass, and sort of miss that, it was a beautifully crafted bass; but now I have Herbie the Love Bass with that fat humbucker sitting in the middle position instead of the neck; when I feel the pangs of the Tele Bass, I can pick up Herbie, and she’ll do.
My wallet would certainly be happier if I had simply kept my first Revstar. Or my second. I will try not to sell the third
@Barney Im pretty sure I’ve seen him hanging out with Mark Wahlberg
Just imagine how much you saved compared to doing the came thing with SGs
Yeah there really is no upper limit on Gibson Gouging
Aside from my first bass, the Spector Euro for sure.
Me, but @joergkutter found it first fair and square.
I was on tour and doing my pre-show, post-sound-check town wandering in Telluride.
They have a music store there.
There was a '65 P bass there with a slick, almost Jazz-bass-esque neck on it that played so great. It was $4,000 and I don’t regret not spending that money, but I do regret not putting it all on a credit card that I’d still be paying off.
I also very much regret not buying an incredibly affordable Fernandes bass in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Once again wandering into book stores, coffee shops and music stores on tour. I still have a photo to remember it by…
That I can’t find right now.
Damn.
This is a loaded question for me.
I tend to pine over every bass I sell. Two of my three current basses were well thought-out purchases, followed by impulsive sales for idiotic reasons, followed by impulsive re-purchases when I found them for sale again.
I am actively pining for one of my sold basses… a violin burst Fender American Deluxe Dimension. I have my eyes out for another one, but… I’m recently single and once again my own CFO, so it’s going to be a while. No more impulsive purchases or re-purchases for this guy, that’s for sure.
@Gio I feel your pain.
You snooze, you lose, @Gio.
But, regardless, sorry for your loss.
Hey @Gio, what Fernandes? They are inexpensive domestic instruments here, I could take a look around…
Wait… what did I do now? Did I snatch a bass from right under your nose, Dave?? Which one was that? I don’t think I did that on purpose though…
Dude, all is fair in love and bass.
Oh not at all. I wasn’t even paying attention. It was also on the wrong continent with a price tag above my mad money stash. I wouldn’t have bought it even if I had known.
I’m very happy it’s with you!
