Yahhrr, @Al1885 'twas indeed an option on the sandwich picker. Of course, if I ever ask you to top off my grilled scallops with deep-fried red beets, an over easy egg, and some worcestershire sauce, then you’re free to respond however you see fit .
Maybe they remove the batteries from basses that take some time to sell? I can imagine it can take years to sell and in that case I would remove the battery too.
Generally batteries don’t come installed in the bass (or any other thing for that matter). They are wrapped up nicely and off to the side for safe transport.
That said, it generally takes a few years for a battery to leak in their own, but they do and will. Especially if they are el cheapo ones. So maybe you are right.
Or, it’s just a simple cost cutting measure they can justify by a couple of complaints about leakage.
Side story, my Gene Simmons Punisher is an active bass, had no idea as no battery door and no real specs to review. . I was messaging with a guy in Australia who bought one as well and had it mounted in a custom glass case. Guess what, he didn’t know either and had to take the whole thing back to the case maker to remove the battery. Poor fella.
Here’s the thing. Guitar Crnter has been on back ordered since covid. They are only getting a few every month or so last I check it was 12-15 on the waiting list. Sweetwater said they could get it for me within a month and delivers in less than 3 weeks so there’s no waiting to sell on the model.
I remember now, my 40th anniversary stingray came with the extra battery in the case as part of the case candy. Make sense.
