Your Favorite Cover Songs?

Oh yeah those guys were really solid for covers. One year Flea, Frusciante and Klinghoffer took a year off and just toured doing Joy Division covers… and they were fantastic.

Is that Flea playing with the pick?

yeah I can’t picture slapping an hour of Hooky basslines - your thumb would fall off

Actually it does sound like he slaps in the hard part of Disorder though at 6:12

Here’s a few I like:
Muse - Feeling Good
Talking Heads - Take Me To The River
Cake - I Will Survive
The White Stripes - Jolene
Iron & Wine - Such Great Heights
RHCP - Higher Ground
William Shatner - Common People

Just check out the bass on this one:

And maybe one of the weirdest covers but I think he nailed it, with top notch production from Ben Folds:

This is by far my favorite cover.
Ever since I found it I play it over and over again.
So many of the iconic original parts (strings, etc) but an absolutely perfect twist in every way.

lol awesome. Don’t #%$! with Pat Boone when he’s in a metal mood.

A bunch have already been mentioned, but I thought this cover kicked it up a notch…

Brie Larson actually sang this and I like it much more than the Metric original:

My favorite part of BBC Radio 1s Live Lounge is when they do a cover song. Some really good stuff comes out of there. It’s my MTV Unplugged for the modern age, though different beasts of course.

Nice choice of cover. Muse are great musicians. For a 3-piece this is amazing as well.

Their cover of Hungry Like The Wolf is good too. I actually am kind of unmoved by it as it is so close to the original.

Derp. How did I miss THIS.

Amazing cover. followed by this:

The only cover enshrined in MOMA (to the best of my knowledge)

This cover, like Cash’s cover of Hurt, was Joey’s goodbye to his fans. He had terminal cancer, and did not live to see its release. But he went out in typical Joey style. A cover of Louis Armstrong’s What a Wonderful World.
