Your opinion on OLP bass

Hi. Found this bass on Sale for US$300 and I’m curious to hear if you have any experience with it. I like that it’s ShortScale. OLP licensed by Ernie Ball

I’m not familiar with that brand, but it’s a very nice looking instrument. If Ernie Ball put his name on it, I suspect the quality is good too.
Are you able to demo it?

From what I know of them, it is like a Squier is to Fender. Looks similar to the bigger brother, but has a bit lower grade materials, construction, etc. That being said, these seem to be considered better than what they usually sell for. Looks like that particular one is in excellent condition. If you have a chance to play it then just follow your heart. If you can’t play it, then it’s always a gamble, but I’m siding on the “seems good” side of the fence. If you like the Music Man style then even more so.

No. I can’t demo it. I would really like to try out a short scale bass and even a Squire Mini would be fun to use for mods. This OLP (Original Licensed Products) has a decent price.

I was able to find some information saying that these OLP (Original Licensed Products) were made in China and don’t compare 100% to the Made in USA instruments but have good electronics. No, I’m not really a fan of stingrays, it’s just that I’m interested in a short scale bass and the only other options here seem to be a Squire Mini or a Honer which is another price range here.
Unfortunately there’s no chance to try it out but I like it.

There is actually quite a lot of short-scale basses nowadays as they are becoming popular with guitarists due to the similar size. I was considering buying one as my next bass, but went for a standard scale instead.

Not sure where you are based, but here are 77 models off of a large European site.

Not trying to put you off the OLP though!

I seem to recall that back in the day OLP had a pretty good rep
