So, some of you guys have been uploading videos for quite a while, and have a reasonable amount of subscribers and video views. I was actually quite in awe of these numbers.
To put it in context, I now have 21 videos, with an average ‘views’ total of 30. I got quite excited as I saw ‘Breaking The Law’ creeping towards the 100 view mark over 5 months!
Then, 'New Divide blew me away by getting 70+ views in a couple of weeks.
My last two videos have had around 200 views in two days! I’m blown away by the difference. Looking at the analytics, it appears that they are showing up as ‘Recommended’ videos now.
I only started uploading to post them here, but I am getting into it more now and would be lying if I said I’m not getting a thrill from seeing my channel grow.
Anyone else got any thoughts on the sudden leap in views, or comments on how your own channel has progressed from the early days?
Most of my videos will get around 150 views. I’ve been posting covers for over four years now and have 95 subs. I don’t actively try to get more views or subs. If I do one that I’m particularly proud of I will post it on Facebook (I don’t have a lot of friends on Facebook, family moslty) and that will give me a little boost.
It is fun to see the channel grow and every once in a while someone will say they enjoy a video which is nice.
I think we have the same philosophy Paul. I only had 24 people on Facebook, and shared my videos on there up until a couple of weeks ago when I deleted the account. Aside from my brother, I don’t think anyone watched them
It was just the recent jump in views that made me consider the channel as more than just a place to put Bass Buzz covers.
As you say, it is nice to get some positive feedback, and I’m happy to keep doing what I’m doing
When I post videos, I set them as unlisted. Ya’ll are the only ones that I inflict that kind of torment on.
I think if you really want to get YT followers, you put the tab in the video.
I don’t really care that much about growing viewership. Then again, I do like dopamine so …
This ^ will make a big difference.
Being a solid player will help and oddly choosing songs that don’t have a lot of bass covers will also help.
I could care less. A few have over 5000 and most are in the hundreds.
I do it to improve my playing and used it as a calling card to get my place in the band. If you’re looking to get more views then maybe that’s the wrong metric to use?
Yeah, probably a good idea if that is what you are looking to do. I’m not setting out to get more followers, but don’t mind if I do.
"Anyone else got any thoughts on the sudden leap in views, or comments on how your own channel has progressed from the early days?" is what I originally wrote. I am more interested in how peoples channels have developed over time. It was the sudden change in video views that made me wonder what had changed to promote this.
I guess I’m just curious about how it all works. That goes for a lot of things not just YouTube, I am curious by nature
Yeah I look at my covers as music production practice and they are only up to share with folks, I’m not looking to go viral with them
In fact some are unlisted, though most are public.
I have a youtube video with over 24K views,
A really dodgy review of a Zo Flugelhorn I did when I was going to get back into playing trumpet
This is the entirety of my YT videos. One video accounts for nearly half of my total views.
Of course, the fact that all of them are unlisted is the main contributor to those low numbers.
That’s interesting. All of my video are unlisted.
That said, I made a few cooking videos. I might go back and redo some of those again. It’s fun. Maybe my daughter(s) can cook them. My 10 year old can do that. She did this when she was 5, she said it was easy after a few dozen tries
Not me … Maximum carnage! All will suffer
( did I mention I’m not a fan of ‘people’ … in general? … lol )
That seems very un-Canadian.
I can still do it politely…
Sorry eh.
It’s all fun and games until you put a hockey stick in a Canadian’s hands.
We’ll just drop it and start the fight
( real hockey eh! )
Gotta pull the jersey over the head first.
(Gotta remember, my wife’s an Alberta farm girl)
I know this is all true from watching Letterkenny.
