A little music related fun

Yes, hello, someone said my name. It’s been far too long since I’ve been hanging around here. Don’t know what it’s about but hi :raising_hand_woman: anyway.

Nice to see you @regina.
Someone was summoning all the women bassists here and I added a few we had not seen in a while.
Hope you are well.

That’s a lovely thought. I’m fine. On and off with the bass but I‘ve started taking in person lessons recently. I should write about that! Hope you’re well, too.

Reading John Illsley’s Dire Straits memoir when I read this paragraph. Glad to see he and I are one in agreement about Seasons in the Sun. Sorry all you Terry Jacks fans

Ah , the Wombles !
I was very sad to hear Bernard Cribbins the narrator passed away this week

I do totally agree with you @Barney about Seasons in the Sun . It was the start of emo I reckon :joy:

Sounds like he and I are one in agreement about most '70s rock

I actually love the cheese of the '70s.
I have a pretty big K-Tel vinyl collection going (the Spotify of the '70s).
Keep this talk up and I will have to start covering them all. :upside_down_face:

Well I did say “most”

I have some favorites too.

Also yeah, TV shows were actually pretty sweet for basslines (thanks Carol!). Theme from SWAT, etc.

Oh, man, the K-Tel commercials. And RonCo.

Got that covered too…

There were definitely some solid, solid TV basslines.

One TV Theme bassline to rule them all…

Awww yeah.

'80s were good too; we got some DEVO (PeeWee) and Waitresses (Square Pegs), etc. Other good ones in there too.

(And of course Michael Mann blew that one wide open)

Thanks for that. Now I know who Redd Foxx was and what that tune is - two things I only recognise from Family Guy. We didn’t get Sanford & Son over here.

I don’t know I agree with him. Yeah Terry Jacks was a bit sacharine, but 70s is hardly the only era with insipid pop singles. I’m pretty sure we could name ones from other eras too.

But the rock scene had quite a few good bands. Stooges, Patty Smith, Judas Priest, Van Halen, The Ramones, Uriah Heep; lot of good stuff going on.

Yeah, but, The Eagles.

And Wings.
