A little music related fun

Actually at the time he said that he would use anything that sounds good, and he was prone to use newest gear. He was more modern that all the guys who try to replicate his tone with a Marshall Plexi. If he still was alive, I easilly can imagine him playing a Kemper

Yeah, probably true  He was also that close to playing with/in Emerson, Lake and Palmer!

My tongue-in-cheek statement was a riff off of the old tune of “Jaco didn’t need no stinking fill in whatever someone is using:wink:

I had tapes:

stretch (for some wild pitch fluctuations), usually while hot
break
bleed through between tracks
bleed through from reverse side (same thing really)
lose magnetism over time

I had vinyl:

scratch (obviously)
wear out from repeated play
warp in heat

I had CD’s oxidize over time.

Basically I really dislike all non-solid-state music storage media

The only thing I miss is album covers and liner notes, which were the bestest. Vinyl does win there.

Otherwise,

that’s mostly why I still buy vinyl sometimes. It’s some kind of collecting-way of supporting the artists. Almost none of my recents vinyl have ever seen a turntable, even if I have a good’ol Technics. I listen only to the digital releases that are always given when buying a vinyl nowadays.

I can see it now: Hendrix, Emerson, Lake, and Palmer = H.E.L.P

A phenomenon for a phenomenon.

Huge win here. A lot of my teen years were spend reading and rereading liner notes.

Many hours were spent looking for all the background details in Derek Riggs Iron Maiden covers

It’s true. They were works of art, along with the covers.

This is a good plan. And if I were to buy a turntable again, it would definitely be a SL1200 reissue. Long live the Wheels of Steel

To be honest, I keep my HiFi gear (Technics turntable, Onkio Integra amplifier & cassette deck, JBL Decade 26 speakers ; most of this gear would need some repair) just because I already have it. I would not buy it otherwise, because I have no real use of it.

Well, it’s not totally true : I use the JBL as a stand for my KRK’s VXT8

Nice. I’ve used an amp significantly worse than yours as a small venue gigging amp for keyboards and vocals

Vocals could have used more power but for the keys it was fine at about 120W/channel. As a stereo amp running in to a pair of normal speakers and a pair of 12" cabs we made it was actually pretty loud.

an amp is an amp :metal::grin:

Ok, I’m not sure what this trend of bass players being in Star Wars spinoffs is all about, but I approve:

Thundercat was in Book of Boba Fett back in January (followed by Flea in Kenobi last summer )

I haven’t seen the series yet, but not sure how I missed it; I mean, it wasn’t hidden:

Most people think it is terrible.
I didn’t bother to watch it and just cancelled Disney+ when it jumped up $3 a month. I’ll get it back when there’s a pile of stuff to watch, otherwise not spending $10.99/Mo to wait for the next Star Wars thing.

Yeah I might go watch the Ahsoka/Luke/Mando episode and skip the rest.

Andor was awesome, gonna binge some more catchup on Clone Wars and Rebels and then unsub until either Ahsoka or Andor S2, whichever comes first.

It’s because bass players are the best, the coolest, and most likely to get along with people. We have to be, otherwise no one would talk to us. :sunglasses: :joy:

Headphone system built into the bass is a great idea. I wish mine had this.

The Traveller basses have this and it’s a very cool feature to have when on the go
