I started Destiny in D1 … 6 months after Vanilla launch … so I got to play the entire story … new players now… have NO CLUE what is going on …
100%. I joined in Warmind so I got all the good parts but newbs noware hosed.
That way you look back on what you wasted, but it is looking back.
Putting pictures of the gear and bass’s you want on the same wall is looking forward…
Also, if you typically carry your cigs in your shirt pocket, carry a tootsie pop or two in that same pocket…. You’ll be surprised how many tines your hand will subconsciously go to the pocket you carried those cigs in…. Years after I quit there were still instances when something would trigger in my brain and my hand would go to my shirt pocket…… Crazy how our minds work….
Good point … addiction isn’t just physical… there is psychological as well… hand to mouth… hand to pocket ( like you said ) … all a part of the ‘habit’
I quit the night I found out that my wife is pregnant with our first baby. I gave my pack to my brother and I went and grab some gas station ecig. The. I bought a couple of kit. Currently I vape equivalent to 3-5 cigarettes a day compared to 20 and my nicotine % is now zero. Just the habit.
It’s been
I do have a vape… I will use that as extreme emergency measure… but I want to go to ZERO, …
Congrats to you as well
Good luck mate we’re behind you, and want to see the gear too
I quit with over a carton of cigarettes in my closet. Never touched them
Smoked for 10+ years, around the age of 16/17 to 27/28 or so. It’s been a while and I haven’t thought about it much, so I can’t remember exactly. It was pretty straightforward once I committed myself to quitting, but there were some triggering situations where I backslid - like going out to a bar or drinking coffee and hanging out with friends in a diner somewhere. Ultimately got there, and you can too. You got this brother.
It’s been 14 years since I quit smoking. No regrets.
@Buzzin_Canada-John you can do it!
Good luck @Buzzin_Canada-John ! You can do this!
Looks like you’re on a roll! Keep up the good work
@Buzzin_Canada-John that’s great to hear, man. I wish you all the best and though there will be tough times ahead, you are tougher!
And good for you for quitting drinking too. I myself have cut down to a few glasses of wine per year, it’s really only for very special occasions I drink any alcohol. I’m very happy with my decision.
Biggest addiction for me was World of Warcraft. Still miss it, but never going back. So many months literally spend in a chair in front of my screen. When I started to check /played, it became very uncomfortable to see.
Good for you! And good thing you don’t live in France. For a long time, a pack of cigarettes cost 11 € (about $12). A few years ago, it was raised to 12 € (about $13). Do the math with those numbers. It’ll blow your mind. Even with those prices, the French are smoking and vaping fiends. Sigh. In places like Strasbourg that border Germany, the French cross over and buy their smokes there to save 1 €.
This is the French!
Good luck @Buzzin_Canada-John , stick with it
And here I was expecting some sage old-timer telling us about how he played his last gig and has switched to backgammon.
I’ve never been smoking (although I did try a few cigarettes), but I found the book “The Easy Way to Stop Smoking” helpful when ditiching other bad habits (social media, candy, …) and changing my diet.
After the pandemic, I felt so lethargic and done, I’d put on 10+ lbs and while I still looked slim compared to most people, I felt unwell. Take the book with a grain of salt, but I do think that the first thing in there, namely that you have to really want to quit is true.
Good luck, @Buzzin_Canada-John!
I feel really lucky to have never smoked, which in the end is kind of weird as I was an ‘80s kid deep in to underground goth/industrial/punk clubbing as a teen. Like 80% of the people I ran in to smoked.
In the end, ironically it”s probably because I was rebelling against my parents who were both big tobacco addicts. It was just anathema to me.
It killed them both, so good on you all for quitting.
a 20 pack here is $16 … a reg pack is $18 to $20
