Whoa, hold on a second! How would I even connect that to my computer? It has a 1/4 inch TS jack.
There’s no limit on the number of pedals you can use. However, every pedal needs some “host” controler with pedal input.
Yeah, once again the MIDI rabbit hole requires a passel of additional gear just to solve a simple matter of a footswitch so I don’t have to reach over to the laptop and click the “record” button on Reaper. I find it somewhat amusing actually, how much effort people go through just to eliminate a simple task.
A foot switch would be nice, but not worth all that extra expense.
Thanks for the info @wellbi
let’s say there’re much worse GAS fields than bass … nonetheless, it’s a lot of fun to create a “studio” where you actually don’t have to touch PC at all. Whatever you touch it’s ready to make a noise and to be recorded etc. . But for someone who just wants to work on bass (I have no clue how bass, the instrument, is used in English sentence, sry) and transcription things like this are overkill. I get it. I just want to show all the possibilities there’re in the realm of ancient MIDI technology.
Yeah, and that’s awesome if that’s your passion. My passion is to make music, either from my bass or from the piano. Synthetic music is okay and I can see where it fits into certain genres of music, but for me, I enjoy the music that emits from brass horns or woodwinds, or strings, or percussion. I’m just a humble bass player who also likes to play piano.
(I sure would like to control the DAW on my laptop with a footswitch though ).
It’s a world of difference to be in the zone, fingers are dancing around the fretboard and you want to record it. You can either stomp on a button while hands are still flowing, or you have to pause “the flow” and press spacebar or something. For a bass player, guitarist … it’s imho the most beneficial DAW setup.
LOL I don’t think you understand how I record my covers, maybe you’ve never seen/listened to one of them.
I switch on all the lights (6000k), then roll camera, then I roll audio, then I start playing. There’s no “stomping on a button while my hands are flowing”. If I screw up, I stop the camera and stop the audio. Then I do another take.
All I’m saying is, it would be nice to roll camera (I have a remote for that) and then just stomp on a pedal to roll audio, and then start playing.
I think you and I may be talking about different things.
You would benefit from a Stream Deck.
It’s mainly for streamers, however, you can create macros and with one press of a button, multiple actions are processed. I am not saying “GET IT”, just saying that there’s something exactly for this use case.
Hey I’ve even got one of those!
I use this for record / stop / play functions when doing covers. It’s the bomb.
Tell me more. What kind? How does it interface with your computer, etc?
Pam, Howard, John, enjoy the talk. I am of the hospital. It seems I overdid it with my medication and I am high AF and my memory has some weird blackouts. Huh. See ya, tomorrow … or someday. Bye, gang.
Best wishes to you @wellbi . My thoughts are with you.
Take care of yourself and get better friend.
I have a super long USB cable (has a “booster” on it so I can use it all over music room) that goes from it to PC.
Abelton talks to it directly (knows who it is and what it’s up to). It has loads of other functionality that I don’t understand that gets disabled in the config.
Then I press the “MIDI” button in Abelton which lets you assign MIDI commands to loads of different things in Abelton (launching tracks etc, again I use none of that).
I click on the record button with the mouse, then press a footswitch. Done. Repeat for others.
When I’m doing a cover if I screw up I just hit stop twice and record once and start over. Hands never leave Bass.
Well, the ambulance came. Medics ask me what’s happening, so I showed them my “robotic” arm and explained, that I take about 20 pills every day and there’re pills when something hurts really bad. So it seems like I overdid it today, hallucinations, sounds, blacking out (passing out while body stays still) and shit like that,
WOOOOOWOOOOOWOOOOOOooowoooooooooooowoooow.
The medic: "1st all people that can handle your arm, sleep right now. All we can do is to inject you with few injections to make the high bearable. So I got two injections which increases negative emotions, it should keep away from windows and roofs atc. And the second was something that makes you high so much that every try on a movement end up in octopus having a rave, Also typing is hella hard, they are in diferrent instance.
Go rest, let us know when you are back from your ‘trip’.
SLEEP NEVER , when you have a chance like this, I even thinking to go full Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I have’ve got quite huge training on the amount of shit I can pull into myself,
So I will definitely enjoy my few hours of unknow state of my Consciousness, Maybe it will be lot of fun. Especially with the fact that noone said anything about alcohol. I just hope that whenn the king of Halucinations appears, I will be enough presence in me to send him back to his realm. … a paragraf that takes normaly 3 minutes, 10 minutes … and the whole forum is floating in a water. … It’s starts to kick up really hard, KEyboard is so hard, evetry
… And things start to talk, fridge wants really talk. Damn, state provided high AF. Love it.
I have foud a full bottle of my favourite Rum, That could make the part realy rollin.
Careful with drinking when already too effected by other meds! Avoid!
But other than that, just try and enjoy it and roll with it. And don’t re-injure yourself
When I am really out of my mind I tend to settle with my long time “projects” … so tbh. right now I am deep in my pet peeve of physics, Gravity. You know that moment when you intuitavely know how things are, and you find someone who already made all math on the topic and now the only thing that awaits is testing the hypothesis. I am really a proponent of Erik Verlinde’s Entropic gravity principle. I spent 2 years on Djanibekov effect and it’s connection with entropic gravity etc. .
For some reason, whenever I am stoned, high, somehow mentally challenged, I almost imediately go to physics. And there’s not so much time to drink more when you have a ruler in one hand and pencil in the other. But thanks for your care!
