All Things Midi Including Controllers

Yeah for sure, the thing was originally mostly a live clip looper. There’s a reason the session view is the default after all.

Yes I clicked “fold”. The problem isn’t seeing the note names; it’s getting them assigned to the kits in the VSTi.

Wow the KeyLab MkII is incredible. The keybed (Arturia Pro-Feel) is the nicest feeling keybed I have ever owned. The thing is much more solid than the essential too (made of metal!)

The thing just oozes quality.

It even comes with a Reaper magnet. (and Live, etc…)

That looks nice @howard . Are the keys weighted or semi-weighted?

No. The 49 and 61 use Arturia’s Pro-Feel keybed, which is a very nice synth keybed, feels perfect to me. Definite step up from the Essential.

The 88 uses a weighted, hammer-action Fatar TP/100LR keybed. You’d want the 88, it’s apparently among the best piano-feel keybeds you can get in this price range.

It’s also… not cheap

yeah, I noticed that when I was shopping for an 88 :scream_cat:

@howard theres one like new in Brooklyn for $300 US.
Luckily I hate going to Brooklyn.

You think YOU hate going to Brooklyn? Imagine what it would be like for @howard

Ha!

$300 seems a pretty decent used price.

In other news, USQ-1 is definitely a keeper

Ahh, memories.

That’s an interesting tune… what is USQ-1? A VST plugin I assume?

Yeah it’s a UVI soundbank that emulates my old synthesizer:

Just made the song up to play with it. Drums aren’t from USQ-1 though, that’s Drumazon.

I would literally rather travel to Japan.

The only redeeming quality about going to Brooklyn (btw, all the good used instrument deals seem to be there) is timing it so you get a stop here…

I love chicken and waffles so much.

There are a few places around the Phoenix area that made themselves famous for their chicken and waffles, but I just haven’t been able to bring myself around to giving it a try. It just seems like such an odd combination. That’s not to say I wouldn’t try it someday, I’m just not compelled to make a special trip to do so.

If the idea of syrup on chicken bothers you they work well with gravy too.

It’s an amazing combination either way.

If they are done right, they are worth two trips (which you will need once you are hypnotized by their sweet and savory goodness).

Sweet chick has lots of combos, not just the maple syrup variety, flavored waffles too. The menu is limited since covid, but things like Nashville Hot, Green Curry/Potato Waffle, Bacon Cheddar, Rosemary…damn, maybe a trip to Brooklyn is in order after all!

Yeah, nosh on that chicken and waffles, and come home with a keyboard to boot.

I hadn’t really played with it until tonight, but Analog Lab V really is pretty cool. You get a whole lot with it and additional soundbanks for the bundled synths are cheap.

Then if you ever decide you want to program one of them beyond the presets, you can just buy the synth from V Collection. Which is the real reason Analog Lab exists, of course - it’s the best possible ad for the V collection synths that you could make. And it’s probably worth the $200 they charge for it when it isn’t bundled with their stuff.

Arturia makes really good stuff.
