Amplitube 5 Max - On Sale for €99 - Anyone Using

I know there are lots of posts on plugins, but couldn’t see that much specifically on Amplitube 5 Max. It’s currently on sale for €99 and I have €25 in Jampoints so thinking of buying.

I’ve got multiple plugins for both bass and guitar - some free, but also got a few paid including Kuassa Cerberus and Audio Assault Duality for bass and Archetype Petrucci and multiple Audio Assault for guitar.

I think the things that are making me thinking about Amplitube 5 Max are:

  1. quite a few amps and pedals to try
  2. Tonex presets - demo’d a few and a bit hit and miss as to how good they sounded
  3. Looper and 8 track recorder

2 and 3 are probably more important as I’m not that familiar with dialing in tones and the idea of having the looper and 8 track without needing to open Reaper seems inticing.

I’m also aware that these “all-in-one” packages can sometimes be filled with rubbish.

Anyone happily using Amplitube 5 max?

Its a solid stuff if you dont want much hassle.
Im using it. However Im mostly using one amp, one cab and second cab is switched depending of a song Im recording.

It has some basic DAW, which is enough for recording covers and practice, cause you have tempo and looping.

All in all, I like it for what it is.

lol.

So Amplitube 5 is fantastic, highly recommend it. Very nice amp models, and lots of them. Go for it.

Thanks for posting this! I just received a $100 gift card for Sweetwater. I will now put it to good use.

I hear there are better bass amp/cab captures coming soon; however, the best ones will likely be for purchase: For example here: https://www.amalgamcaptures.com/tonex

I have Bias FX, am I right to believe that Amplitube is effectively a competing bit of software with most of the same functionality? So it would be more of a matter of taste between them?

Yes, mostly.

Hi! Glad to find this topic. I just got Amplitube 5 after all (Thank you, @howard) and I’m in the process of getting familiar with it. I’m currently running it through GarageBand without problems.
My question is: Would I benefit in some way by using it as a stand alone APK or would I benefit even more by running it through a different or specific DAW which I don’t have?
Cheers!

The cheesy TV show Ghost Adventures uses it from time to time.

It will be fine in any DAW, including GarageBand

For quick and easy recording, you can use the inbuilt recorder. I haven’t used it much, but intend on doing so.

If you want to try a DAW for free, I’ve found Reaper to be good and mostly easy to use. If I got stuck, there are heaps of help guides and videos.

It will keep asking you for a voluntary payment which I did as thought it was worth paying for.

I was using Reaper, paid for it, still have it. Don’t know how to use it as well as I’d like. I wish I knew how to use it better.

There is a solution for this

Yeah, I know. I just… I’m a software consultant professionally, so mucking about with software after I’ve spent all day mucking about with software isn’t quite as appealing as you might think.

It’s so funny how this varies. Full time Software Engineer for 30 years now, still can’t get enough

Thank you, @iDuncan. That’s a good suggestion. I don’t have any problem with GarageBand and I already have learned how to use it to a certain point. I wonder if the sound quality varies from APK to APK. If it basically sounds the same I’d rather stay with something I’m already familiar with and have. (That way I can put the ToneX pedal on my GAS list.)

I use GarageBand and have recently started using Amplitube 5 for the post processing when I do covers.

It cost $79 and it’s a steal at that price. I see no need to relearn another DAW if all I’m doing is bass cover imho.

Yeah for covers GarageBand is great. You can even do full music production with it, though it is limiting. Still, plenty of albums have been made with it.
