I agree completely! Reminds me of paying extra money for “pre-washed” or “stone washed” jeans so they look faded and worn even before you wear them . . .
One time, while browsing for jeans in the store, I actually found a pumice rock about the size of a golf ball in one of the pockets. Apparently they were used to make small holes in the denim to give it that “aged” look.
Spending extra money to buy worn out jeans . . . ridiculous! 
Same goes for bass guitars . . .
