That’s beautiful! My first bass was a Craigslist Schecter steal. I had no idea what a great deal I was getting at the time and it is absolutely gorgeous. But that neck-through mahogany body is SO heavy that it gets no love. Even my everyday player Squier VM 70’s is lighter and that’s saying something.
By all measures, the Sire is a better bass, but I like playing my Squier a lot more. Tough choice
The Squire Classic Vibe models have a reputation of having a very similar quality to a MIM Fender. I recently confirmed that considering my limited experience. How does that opinion compare to Sire? If that also applies then I would really try to try both out and one of them is surely going to speak to you. Or do the specs of one coincide more with your preferences?
Love Bongos.
I now can’t forget somebody’s Pee Bass joke every time i see one though
I like the look and would like to try one. The $3000 USD price tag is kind of tough though.
Yes but there’s a built in bidet so…0
Sorry for that
I used to love bongos until Music Man King @T_dub pointed out it looks like the lid off a lonely shitter and now I can’t unsee it.
Never buy the $69 bongo, it’s not as affordable as you think. It’s only good for the covid toilet paper shortage of 2020, never forget. LOL
I’d recommend the Mustang as well. I have the MIM short scale and really like it. However, I’ve been eyeing a beautiful Pedulla and a nice Warrior. Much more instrument than I need (but …)
Cheers
yeah I might avoid a white one.
It’s so funny because the Bongo is the only MM I am even remotely interested in. Definitely not in the Leo Fender cult I guess.
Stingrays are cool, but not Bongo cool
Lobster did a YouTube video on the Fallout Tribute. I played a CFL Fallout, but the Tribute and CFL are the same design, just one is an import and one is MIA.
he explained this, and I saw his review, so I was aware of it when I started to try it out.
Had I noticed if he did not specifically point it out, 1–% honestly, answer is Yes and No.
YES, I am sure I would have noticed something was different about the feel, just like something with the Warwick is off a little bit to me. I don’t know if I would have known why, but @howard pointed out a slight difference In the way Warwick (some model at least) sign up with your shoulder and fretting hand extended out a little bit further then most standard 34" scale. See, I knew something was off, but didn’t know exactly what it was.
So
No, I might not have known right away what felt “off” about the bass, and I am not sure that I would have thought about it enough to figure it out on my own.
When things are a little different, and can cause a noticeable change in playing FEEL, it is good when REVIEWERS point this out, so you know what to look for.
So, YES, I do believe it is very noticeable when playing, but NO, I don’t know that I would have thought of the exact reason why, and I would have just said they are strange to play, and left it at that.
I think I am over Lobster.
His reviews are mixed from a quality standpoint, he is too darn slow, and doesn’t do it for me.
Still a big Basstheworld guy though, Gregor is the man, and Frank is a boss.
Yeah - his BB735A review was truly bad, not even internally consistent.
I like what he’s attempting to do, and there’s likely areas he’s really great at, but haven’t been back since then.
It’s like the old adage of never watching the news again once you see them report on something you know a lot about.
Might be my favorite gear channel, yeah.
I’m okay with Lobster. Yeah, his reviews can be off, but he’s an amatuer like most of us so I cut him some slack. I take very few things on the internet as fact.
I like Johnny Dibble. He was doing a review of the Squier Affinity Jag H, and trashed it, and corrected himself later on that he was wrong in the same video. I like when someone will step up and admit a mistake; too rare these days
I was a big fan of Basstheworld but lately I’m not really liking his new attitude/show. Same deal with The Bass Channel. Don’t get me wrong the reviews (and bass players) are still top notch but those shows are not really connecting with me anymore.

Most of their reviews are without anyone talking…
