Well @Mac, the pig is home… and you’re going to be very sad with the outcome of it’s surgery. It will not be fueling your fire pit. It has been transformed. The pig is now “The Prince”. Those Seymour Duncans have done the trick. This bass went from a whimpering toneless fart to a snarling mid tone growl. It now also has so much versatility of sound. (Yamaha still owes me an apology, probably EVEN MORE SO now as I realise what this bass is capable of). Unfortunately @Mac, I have no kindling for your “Bunnings Burn Master”. For your lack of fuel please direct your anger at Jon from www.shubguitars.com.au.

Another amazing job from a true professional and genuinely nice guy.

Sweet. Now you get all the nice things about a BB (i.e., all of it, really solid playable basses), with pups you like

Weird that the originals were so bad. Yamaha electronics are usually great.

Trust me @howard, those pickups were so flat I thought the whole bass was bad. Massive transformation!

Bare in mind, this bass is nearly 20yrs old , so the pick up tech might not have been so good at Yamaha then… I still have those old clunkers if anyone wants them for fishing sinkers!!! Chances are the fish will be scared off by the terrible tone…

@howard I find the neck quite a bit harder to play “reach wise” than my Musicman but figure that is a trait that is ok in a “practice bass” as it will help me stretch and suffer a bit :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello,
do you still have this bass ?
I’m willing to try 5 strings and I have seen one “immaculate” at 400€ … seems like. a good deal.
WDYT ?
thanks !
