My “un-Bias” opinion is that the BassBuzz bass looks the best and sounds the best, lol.

Yeah the Lakland 55-02 has a pickup like that in the bridge and a regular J at the neck. That style / switchable bridge pickup is what made me buy it. Best tone out there for a 5-string IMO

It’s probably to add some weight to the headstock to counter the overly light ones Fender are known for.
