Looks like you need to start stacking.

I ā€˜may’ have previously looked at this lol.
Shipping varies but about $200 but they are also going to sting me on the import taxes in BC.

So my costs would be $200 shipping plus 12% of the value of the instrument plus handling/customs fee.

That $1500 Woodline would be approx $200 shipping, $180 tax plus brokerage (I don’t know how much UPS etc charge for brokerage).

I’d be adding nearly 25% onto a $1500 instrument. I think Americans get a much better deal. So much so that I’d get it delivered to the closest US town to me (about 20 mins away) pop over the border, pick it up and roll the dice with the customs guys when I drive back.

I also think combining another ski trip to Japan with a visit to @howard sounds like a plan.

Or I could just sell these 6 stringed things that never get played?

Do it! Winter us fantastic here

What odd creations. I can’t even imagine what they would be used for.

Reverb adds state sales tax too, so there really is no value for ordering internationally unless you are in love with the instrument. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to play a Bacchus, so right now it is just infatuation fueled by reputation and heresay. Stupid turbo switch :face_holding_back_tears:

Can’t be as bad as summer for sure!!!

Wow! US is (now) 4.9% (was 3.8%) on items over $800. The customs guy couldn’t be bothered to stop me (he did ask what I had) so I didn’t pay it or shipping.

I’ve ordered/shipped at least two basses (can’t recall maybe more) and a saxomophone from Japan, all when the Yen was weak and made out like a bandit.

Yeah summer is basically hell. 92% humidity yesterday.

Yen is even weaker now! Great time to buy stuff from Japan.

Does a weak yen cause economic problems for the Japanese populous buying domestic goods, or just foreign stuff?

There is inflation as supply chain costs rise, yeah

How do your basses cope with this @howard ?
It was so bad at times last year here that the Warwick I had felt wet and I was constantly adjusting/ tuning

need to tweak the truss rods pretty often yeah

It’s very humid where I live, and the % can increase or drop temporarily depending on what weather systems are moving through. I have to adjust monthly.

I often think about tweaking truss rods on a couple every other month and recording which ones when, then just use those during that time lololol

My new Bass(es)

It’s going to be a 5 string single cut we are trying to work out the aesthetic. It will be made simultaneously a 34" scale and the TinyBoy scale 23".
We are finalizing the parameters right now.

That leaf headstock shape compliments the body very well @Al1885 . Could the pickup covers be partially painted or made of 2 woods to mimic that shape ala the triangle pickups mimicing the inlays on a 5 string rick? The ovals are not out of place but you know I’m a sucker for a theme. Maybe the 12th fret marker instead? Ima go away now. I like them but you knew that already.

Yeah, it’s the candle flame headstock. You and I think alike, I’m thinking white pickup and paint to match, but Gustav at Lignum knows the Delano people pretty well now he’s asking if they could already come painted( colored) from the manufacture.

We are working on the inlays. If he could put the LED system in then it would be a different design if not it would be inlay of some sort with Lignum at the 12 fret. Tall narrow stainless steel frets 2 octave scale even on the Ubass version.

Those are Delano pup ovals. I’d definitely leave their signature covers as is.

I dig the lines of that single cut body, and that headstock shape is certainly unique.

Buckle up, folks. We are now entering the land of Esoterica.
