That’s a nice-looking bass. I want to try their Combustion or NG2 basses. They sound amazing in the demo videos. I’ve also never played fanned frets so I want to see what that’s like.

i have yet to hear anyone say that the transition is difficult, seems very intuitive (the frets).

Yeah the new version looks really sleek. It Seems to me that it is getting closer to the Precision bass model from Dingwall. Those are gorgeous!

The do have fantastic tone, are very playable. In terms transition to a fanfret, I’d go as far as saying there really isn’t one. In that picture I posted last night, I had two basses with me, the Dingwall and a more traditional one, and was switching depending on the song we were doing. The only thing which I do have to slightly adjust to is playing octaves down near the headstock, on the g-string, that’s where I feel the distance between the frets.

I would love to try the JT. I like the fact that there is passive tone control. On mine, and all other Combustions / NGs, there is no tone control while in passive mode. That said, it still sounds very good!

How so?

The bloody royalty cheques still aren’t coming through!

Same bridge, new colours. I was replying to @itsratso that they look a bit different compared to the previous iteration of Dingwalls. I like them both.

Here is the super P which has the bridge that is also on the new Combustion/NG Dingwalls.

Yes, I’ve seen these…Uber expensive!

I must admit, I actually prefer the older style bridge, but then that’s what’s on mine

I would be interested in an after-market Neve preamp!

this is cool buuutttt …

I have to admit I was expecting a bit more. I like the color choices but when you start playing with it I really only found a few I would live with. being able to easily grab a flamed neck is the real draw here. my latest obsession is in the current BFR offerings they offer a guitar, the saber duello, with the heaviest craziest flaming in the universe. it’s a flamed neck on steroids and it makes my brain explode. I’m hoping they do it on some basses.

I agree. It’s nice but, but it’s just Stingray, and only H and HH. Why not HS option. Heck, I was hoping for a custom Cutlass or Caprice.

I agree they are crazy flame. It took me quite a bit of time to get used to my Fuego, they crazy flame is just out of this world

This could have gone in the “ugly duckling” thread also (as I don’t like that design at all), but since it’s quite expensive, I put it here.

I was at CME the other day, and an elderly guy came in and we chatted a bit (about basses) while he was waiting for one of the employees to bring a bass out for him. It turned out to be a vintage Gibson Thunderbird, which (apparently) had belonged to Johnny Winter:

When, at some point after he had played the bass and was looking at what else was in the case, I asked him: “Well, but, uhm… 15,000 dollars???”, he grinned and said: “Well, I’m not gonna leave it (the money) to my kids, that’s for sure!” :joy:

(I don’t think he bought it right there and then, though, as it still shows on the CME homepage).

Seems he got his priorities straight

I kinda like those Thunderbirds. Pretty iconic basses.
