Huge congrats on your Lignum custom shorty build, @TheMaartian! Its specs sound like the bass will be amazing! :+1: :+1:

@Al1885, I hope you, your family and your restaurant stay safely away from the fucking fires. Take care of yourself, brother.

Hey welcome to the family. You’ll love it. Wenge/oak will look so nice. April delivery would be so awesome. All my customs were minimum 12 months except for my 23” scale so 4 months is a huge deal.

Congrats. @TheMaartian

Simply because you have not tried it yet, when you do all 3 of your shorties will have them. If the soap bar is a single coil on steroids the xtender is single coil with Gamma Ray, just ask Bruce Banner it would have been on his bass too, :joy:

I might meet him this weekend! Big green guy? Smells terrible and has a cat as a friend?

I’m not doubting the tone. I’m just not convinced about the shape.
Of course, it’s a matter of taste. No matter what, that will be a cool bass!

I hope Croatia doesn’t have April Fool’s Day.

I know you’re j/k, but FYI, Gustav quotes 6-8 weeks for a raw (oiled) finish and 8-10 weeks for a satin or gloss finish. He much prefers satin and was happy I chose that finish. So, 2025. :guitar: :+1:

I’ll also mention that I asked about a 3x2 headstock vs. his 4x1 for 5ers. The current 4x1 is an update from earlier builds, sleeker and better looking. He 3-D modelled several different 3x2 headstocks, but couldn’t find one he was happy with. The dude’s an artist with wood, so I happily deferred to his judgment.

Looks like I caught him at a good time!

That’s really amazing… that’s like no wait time basically
(I ordered a bass in June 2024, and hope that it somehow will get finished in 2025 :joy:)

I wonder if the short turnaround time is due to the fact that I chose an existing design, one he’s built before and not a one-off unique design.

Yeah that’s perfect timing. My second one it was in the middle of Nate Narvaro’s SubOctave bass build.

Did you see this?

For those who may have missed it, here’s Nate with his Lignum Sub-Octave bass. Impressive!

Damn, love the sound of that thing!!! It’s awesome. and that’s an understatement. Serious will have to think of saving the funds. Where the heck do ya find 42" scale strings in those gauges? (least concern really but curious).
