Oh, the gates to heaven!
Chowny Retrovibe Vantage : an offset interpretation of the 4003. Iām not a big fan of the pickup choice (WTF ?!) but Iām absolutly in love with the body shape. Also I find the headstock shape works well with this Fenderized Ricken shape. and I like the mapple fretboard.
I hear good things about Chowny basses, but please talk to me before you decide to order one @terb! I can tell you a story about Chowny, the companyā¦
yeah @joergkutter you already told too much, please continue ! I have to know
No kiddingā¦first thing I thought it was a Rickā¦then noā¦a Fender⦠no a Stingray (pickups)⦠WTFā¦lol
Actually I kind of like it with those giant humbuckers.
Is Chowny the one youāre still waiting for?
cough his āfriendā
So, yeah, kinda all of the above
Latest projected delivery date: some time around March 15
At this point, it is mostly stubbornness keeping me going⦠and I didnāt even know I had that much of it in me
Not going to lie. Iām not a tat person and donāt actually have a single one. But your avatar could appear on my body some time in my life.
Hah! Yeah it would make a good one.
I have kept some nice bass pictures on my computer. I wanted to share with you the ones I find the most interesting for various reasons (no particular order).
Remember downloading pics before broadband? Youād spend all night just waiting for it to display below the neckā¦
it did not change much where I live
Yeah I somehow missed the pic of that beauty earlier today. HOLY COW!!! The four most iconic basses IMO all got together and had the most perfect love child!!!
Never have I achieved such highs and lows for the same bass in such a short period of time. It hurts my soul that this is the company youāve been waiting on so long. On the bright side if I order it now, I should get it about as long as Iāve been waiting to buy a Stingray (20yrs). lol
To be fair: I guess they are doing OK on the Retrovibes (AFAIK); I had ordered one of their latest designs (NT4), which then ran into a SNAFU with their wood suppliersā¦
They are exhibiting at the Bass Show in Manchester at the end of March. Maybe you could pop over and have a chat with them face-to-face. Iāll meet you there and be the āmuscleā standing behind you. They wonāt know Iām not all muscle.
Tempting!! If I still donāt have the bass by the end of March, I might do that!!
Stephen Chown isnāt the smallest of fellows either, however
If you (or anybody else for that matter) did come over Iād make an extra effort to be there - if I hadnāt already made a plan. Which I probably will. You never know; perhaps if they knew you were heading over they might push one through production for you: gesture of goodwill and saving them shipping hassles.
