Couldn’t find much on it other than it’s a Warwick-style multi-piece bridge. The bass itself is a KJB Bass Design build.
very nice
Yep, looks like an actual Warwick bridge. Normally the two pieces are spaced further apart on, say, a Corvette. But it totally works here on a P-bass body! I dig it!
So good. Some of the best Fender-shaped instruments out there.
I can smell the patchouli from here ![]()
Gotta love AI web searches. My wife is on a big bike ride and at the midpoint a live band was playing. She took this pic for me:
I didn’t recognize the bass or logo so I tried a search. Google AI first said it was an Alembic, then a Dingwall, then a Dean. It’s actually a small boutique custom builder here in Iowa called Drake Custom Bass.
Yeah, no way that would ever be an Alembic.
Gotta love AI ![]()
“Tonewood? We don’t need no steenking tonewood!”
Oh yeah, these guys are great! They have a YT channel with lots of builds from start to finish. I definitely used some of their stuff for inspiration!
We’ve got a few here, which kinda surprise me. There’s another couple guys in the same suburb or Des Moines as me, Fretbender Customs, Marcovis Guitars, and then also BiLT in Des Moines itself. And then, over in Iowa City there’s the guy that makes the Ry’s Comet electric bass guitar along side the upright basses he started with.
A beautiful special edition ![]()
