LOL. Definitely unique looking. For those of us that like cool and unique instruments, they are amazing. Cult following for these.

But yeah, it’s not exactly a cookie cutter Fender clone for sure.

Reminds me of the jetbass

I definitely have a thing for unusual instruments. The cool factor can be really high with them, and they are rare. Things like the SBV’s, the Bongo, the Gretsch Billy-Bo, the ESP Stream, etc - definitely up my alley.

I’ve only ever owned one traditional looking bass, and I sold it pretty quickly. It was a great bass but the vanilla looks just didn’t motivate me to pick it up.

Billy-bo oozes rockabilly cool

Totally.

The SBVs ooze indie/punk cool, at least here in Japan. Big cult following, a few high profile artists use them. One (the person behind the signature model above) was in one of the first big Japanese indie bands from the '90s; another is currently the bass player for a DEVO-inspired indie/punkwave band.

Bongos - I just love them but don’t know of many high profile bands using them. Still, it’s the only MM product I could see myself with. Ok except maybe a Stingray shortie, but I would still want the Bongo instead.

ESP Streams are just so retro-Jetsons cool. They look like much better looking Thunderbirds.

And all the Ibanez premiums are just great with their bizarre finishes. Love them.

Here’s A bass duo band that both use Bongos. The Omnific. Some wild stuff from Downunder.

Marlin Klingon Bass… wouldn’t have been my guess for a model name.

Yeah, I don’t think Lt. Worf would want to play something like that . . .

What is that? I like the contours on the bass. Reminds me of a Ibanez Terra Firma I once had.

He demos them both here, bass starts at timecode:

Like most ESP in this range, starts around $4500.
