1977 also.
Found this one:
Damn
I dig the inlays but that headstock is notso hotso imo. It’s got the same bridge that my 300 has. I’d actually consider it if my wife wasn’t still making fun of me for having strange men show up on my doorstep with bass guitars (her words)
We also have this beauty for a cool $22,000 US dollars. I think it costs that much because it’s Ferrari red.
Apart from the price, I could go for that.
ok this is getting better:
because I actually respect how they kind of went all in on the pointless chrome.
Having the 2 piece, 2 tone pickguard with chrome and black was certainly a choice that was made.
I myself am not into the birth year thing, but I have sold a cool '57 acoustic guitar a few months ago.
The 2 piece part I dig. If they would have committed to either the chrome or the black, I would like it a lot more.
@howard and knowledge of these?
1978 Greco Speedway GOB700 Made in Japan Fujigen https://reverb.com/item/84295852?utm_source=android-app&utm_medium=android-share&utm_campaign=listing&utm_content=84295852
That’s going to be a nice instrument. Greco made a lot of the lawsuit guitars plus their own lines, and it looks like they contracted to Fujigen to make that one, which will make it a solid instrument at minimum.
I am not digging the 1978 selection. Too many pick guards, and orange bursts.
I did spot this one though, the fact the bridge says ‘BADASS’ got it some extra brownie points. B.C. Rich Mockingbird longhorn.
Absolute classic, very famous.
For me there’s only one real choice and it’s gonna surprise no one, it’s a Yamaha SB.
Yamaha SB-7A.
A SB-5A would work too.
Those are both from my birth year
Damn, now I am kinda GASsing for a SB.
I’d love to get one for @booker_t but they didn’t make one in 1949,
The thing about birth year not all vintage are good. I have a 6 bottle case of 1970 Dom Perignon drank 3 already one was good the other 2 were meh!,
Mid 70’s to mid 80’s Fenders are pretty much hit and miss with the CBS era management. Only now with heavy dose of nostalgia, people finds the “incredible” tone and build quality of Fender, which is not necessarily true.
That said I wish to have the actual ‘62 and ‘75. Jazz bass. As both years offer iconic features to the model.
Speaking of MIJ Grecos, I am sorely tempted by this birth year bass. I’d have to leave the BASSMAN patch on there, Ultraman reference and all.

I might be tempted if it wasn’t $6,500
