Auto correct betrayed you. I cooked on a Santa Maria grill a few times, it’s pretty cool but the clean up is a b!tch,
You do realize it looks the same to all of us, right?
i always do a small dice on the cuc’s, i like having a little crunch in there.
(two minutes later)
hon, where’s the tri-tip?
Well, I did not see a baking thread here, so did not want to start new stuff. I like baking a lot. Sourdough breads especially. Also croissants and stuff like baguettes.
Lovely breads dude!!! I need to get my sourdough re-activated so I can bake some loaves
Thanks man, yeah get your sourdough on! Just such a fantastic flavor and texture when baking with sourdough.
There’s a Pizza place in Denver Colorado that uses sour dough for the pizza. It’s delicious.
One thing we do lack here that Americans do way better is BBQ.
Our BBQ is burning some sausages or steak and drinking beer- you have a whole culture devoted to it.
Oh yeah, sourdough pizza is the bomb. I understand why people shy away from it, as the prep time is very long, but well worth it.
Oooh, nice! Can we see the inside of that loaf please??
Making baguettes (and good bread in general) is just sooooo time-consuming. The whole letting the dough rest, work with it a bit, refold it and let it rest again, and again… just means I can only ever do that on weekends (if at all).
Also, a great way to use your leftover sourdough after feeding it, is just pan fry it. Add a few shallots to it and a bit of rock salt and you have a lovely little breakfast
Beautiful!
This is one of my favorite hobbies as well.
Nothing better than kneading dough that’s just the right texture. You can feel how the bread will turn out. I took a bagel making class in NYC once from a little old Jewish lady - fantastical stuff.
I hear ya, there’s something very zen about kneading dough, just the feel of how it develops under your fingers.
Bet that class was awesome, I’d love to take some more classes myself.
We took one, when we went to Crete. It was the mother of a lady who owns a restaurant there. Sadly we could not go to the restaurant, since we had our daughter with and she was not old enough to enter a professional kitchen. But we spend an entire day with a Greek grandma, making traditional food. She taught me how to make pasta, the right way and I never looked back since. Also what kickstarted my passion for growing vegetables. Most things were straight from their yard.
Are you talking about Beau Jo’s? If so, they also put honey on the tables to dip your crust in.
I had to ask my son, it’s called Joy Hill.
Looks like they’re on the other side of downtown from me. It’s 1 light rail stop down from Ball Arena though, so I might have to pop in before the next Avs game I head down for.
