Well I must say that the stingray is simply lovely but it was way out of my budget. I would swing the cort in the far future for a stingray if I pick up the slapp bass style more profoundly or if I find a good price one.
With slap style I find little space to move around the Cort
I was only trying to say that the Roasted Maple neck is on the Ray 34, and was really telling @Mac, cuz he really liked the roasted neck, and he does like Rayâs too.
I also was just trying to show that in my local market, the price difference is way smaller then in other local markets.
Although most of the NON EBMM rays are made in Indonesia and elsewhere, Ernie Ball and Sterling are California Companies. that doesnât change the price in California compared to the rest of the states, but it does change the price compared to outside the USA. Likewise, Cort is not necessary a cheap brand here, compared to elsewhere.
I really was not trying to say anything about either instrument, I like the Cort and would love having one, it was just about the neck, and then local price comparison, period.
Corts look very similar to the Ibanez and funnily enough my SR was made in the Cort factory which seems bizarre in a way
That MM is freaking beautiful. Add a no mod thumb rest and bang itâs certainly up there with something I would love to own
Sterling, not MM, That will be my next bass. I am planning to thin out, and probably take back the Ray4HH to put towards it. I just sold my Spector, and probably gonna sell two others, then I will get that black Ash one
Nice, they have one for sale on Reverb here in the states for $700. But there are some MM Stingrays for under $1000 for sale in the same âgoodâ condition
Yeah, here I paid %40 less for my top (ish) Cort vs a stingray sub. I guess cort is simply bigger in Europe.
I was watching some videos of new headless ibanez basses the other day and they have the exact panga panga fret boards as mine.
Another detail for @howard the bass doesnât really has active / passive. The switch is simply by passing the EQ knobs so switch off gives same output as all knobs in center. No battery no output.
Wasnât a deal breaker for me but funny that it is presented officially to be an active / passive switch.
Yeah, that is the active EQ, so by turning it off, you are, technically going from Active EQ to Passive EQ. The SUPER nice thing about that is, if your battery does die, and you donât have another, you can still play your bass, until you get a battery.
Otherwise, if your battery dies, your bass dies until you replace the battery.
but spec wise, that sounds technically correct.
Yeah, prices are strange, especially when you get down to currency conversions. Like if I look at a site from @Mac, and see the dollar sign, but it is almost double because it is AUD, not USD. lol
It would be cool if shipping didnât cost so much, because then we could all send each other basses all over the world, but buy them from the region that is cheapest.
@eric.kiser absolutey and therefore i bought it but its very heavy and the eq with its double function knobs didnât suit me at all. Over all i like the Cort package more although the Cort has a big gap in volume between active and passive
Honestly - if I owned the Cort I would be tempted to drop in a different preamp and wire it with a real active/passive switch instead of having the EQ bypass. Assuming the Bartolini MK-1âs in there are passive pups that is, which they appear to be.
The current setup as described, where there is an EQ bypass but it still requires the battery to power the preamp even when bypassed, thatâs just weird. Active pickups can require the power of course, but those do not appear to be active pups.
It otherwise looks like a great bass. I love its look and other features.
Just by looking at the pics from the blog I have posted earlier I can easily replicate that board and improve with EQ bypass etc. Such a simple board and it is a blessing that it is not coaxed in somekind of resin.
That will be a bit down the line however now I am simply enjoying the external effects from Zoom.
Nice to see you back in the limelight Jamie, @Jamietashi,
You have been a bit like Mark and Julian, lurking around in the shadows,
I was beginning to miss you tođ
Cheers Brian
Thanks Brian, I have found a spot in the house where I can access the net. All my internet is by tethering to my phone. The joys of rural living. I love it.
I have really missed the forum, it had become part of my daily schedule. Now that I have found the spot on the north east corner of the house I have my B2B buddies back.going through all the missed posts, wow you guys have all been so busy and so many new members.
