I was reading this thread from the top, and stopped right before coming down to this post.
I spent 25 min searching google and YT looking for this guy.
I don’t know him well, but I know he is dark.
I just couldn’t remember his name.
I knew it was diablo or devil something. I even searched for diablo the devil and devil el diablo. Couldn’t remember the AMIGO.
Wouldn’t you know that I found it on YT.
Came back to post his name.
Scrolled down to the next post by @Gio, to find that quote. It was right there the whole time.
Although it is a clever tactic pulling out punk rock on a punk rock guy, those aren’t even the original artists, so no. You would have been closer with repo man. But one of the reasons I like OBWAT is because the music is an integral part of the movie and it’s not just a concert film. Sorry to monopolize the post I’m bored
Pete is a phenomenal songwriter, and the dark, minimal, gritty sound they get as a stripped down trio is dynamite.
Live they are powerful, and driving, and tight as anything.
I got to open for them a few times, and they are very wonderful and excellent people. I love it when my music heroes end up being good people.
@terb - I thought this was some cool international juxtoposition, so I had to throw it on this thread. I’ve been dedicated this year to buying more albums and streaming less. As a result, I’ve been on bandcamp quite a bit.
This band was featured, and I just love this sound.
It’s dark folk music with a drone/noise aesthetic from France.
Reminds me a bit of Godspeed You Black Emperor but with lyrics I can’t understand.
Lemme know what you think!
I must say it’s not my cup of tea, there is a lot of this kind of music in France, it’s from the celtic part of France (north-west). I never went to this region(1), it’s not my culture really. but yeah I guess it’s some kind of european dark country, indeed !
at least I understand the lyrics more or less
1 : for those who might be interested, the celtic culture is in this dark green zone in Europe, it’s kinda hardcore in those area :
Colter Wall has always been a fave of mine, and Stella West. It took me a really long time to find ‘the sound’ and I eventually pinned it down and I’m finding new stuff everyday. I’ve heard some people call it Outlaw Country or Desert Blues. Haha
