Dealing with Reverb Support is frustrating

Man, if you dig the bass, and the discount is enough for you, take the bread and run.

You’ve earned it.

It’s more than I expected, and makes it a lot easier to keep. I was expecting like $100 or $200 lol

Fly like an eagle 'til you’re free.

Think I would go for it too. It’s probably gonna be a real hassle to go for a full refund. You can spend that time and energy on more fun stuff instead.

Also the coolest basses I have played looked like absolute shit lol. Idk why I am so hung on having pristine basses.

Now to go leave my 1-star feedback for the seller :eyes:

I don’t want to say never again, but at least not anytime soon.

Cookie cutter response email except they only offered me $150 discount on a $1,600 bass. I think they base the discount on what they estimate it will cost to fix. However they don’t take into account the loss in resale value. Can you make back your six hondo if you choose to sell it later?

When they process the full refund that option disappeared for me.

Their policy states it has to returned in original packaging. If it was me I would send it back exactly as I got it and get my full refund.

I’m pretty sure they will classify it as “damaged during shipment” and will submit a claim to the insurance for the insured value. So if you take the $350, whoever handles the claim will probably get the full $850.

I just left it before they could do that. I’m curious to see if he leaves retaliatory feedback or contacts me in a message :joy:

I gave the bass a little TLC, put some fresh strings on it, and have been jamming out.

that’s shady AF. But I guess it isn’t my problem.

Go on take the money and run

May be a Steve Miller afternoon

However it works out shouldn’t be so stressful

Nice work @Koldunya. I would keep it for that as you can easily resell it for more than that I bet.

I;d just take that and run. It’s a great day getting a $1000 bass for $500, lol. You can keep it like that to look for a matching touch up pen from StewMac. Some sanding and fill may work.

If that was me I’d just keep it as is or plan for a relic project. Unfortunately, not all brands and models are acceptable fenders, sure.

Ya I was right there too and have totally gotten over that. All my saxes are vintage and nowhere near pristine, so I wasn’t sure why the other side of the room had to be, so I purposefully bought a bass with a chunk out of the back of it sorta like this. Hasn’t bothered me in the least and I got a great deal on it.

…Monday I managed to put The Beast into a ceiling fan :joy: I think it was actually the light fixture as it was a very brittle sound and the damage was minimal; a slightly brown mark near the very tip of the headstock :woman_facepalming:t2: usually super careful around fans but I’d forgotten my meds that morning :eyes:

Edit

This is my plan. I have some bright red Unicorn SPiT. I’ll probably sand, fill, stain/dye, and then seal the area to keep the damage from getting worse. There are a few cracks in the area.

Sorry to revive an old thread…

Looks like it’s my turn to have a Reverb mishap. Bought a Ibanez Talman TMB100K in Hot Pink from a seller on Reverb. I’m not sure if I should name and shame them yet… I went for this item because that color is not often seen and the price was $200 + free ship. Not too bad overall.

It showed up today and the outer box looked fine but after extracting the inner box I found a pair of holes where the knob are. I went in for a closer look and both pots have been damaged. I reached out to the seller who wasn’t very apologetic about the mishap and asked for pictures. I sent them over and then they said the box was probably crushed and asked for pictures of that box. I sent it over. I had mentioned in my first post that I could look to repair it and they could just give a partial refund.

Instead, they sent a return label with instructions. When I replied explaining my proposal of keeping the bass, getting a $100 refund and I would fix it up. Parts are looking like $65 before taxes and shipping so that didn’t seem like a crazy ask. I would have been willing to take $75.

They just respond with “Sorry, it needs to come back.” At this point I want to get Reverb involved so I’m hoping someone with experience here can chime in and tell me how to get support in the mix. I haven’t requested a refund on the Reverb page yet as I don’t want the seller to do anything shady. I doubt they would refund me until they get it back anyways.

So I guess my options are:

  1. send it back, get refund and flame them on the reviews
  2. don’t send it back and eat the repair costs
  3. involve my credit card company somehow?
  4. Maybe Reverb support will help?

It’s such a cheap bass I don’t know if it’s worth the hassle but dammit it’s the principal!

Any experiences/advice is welcome.

It sounds like they are trying to make it right? Not sure if I would flame them. Bummer they won’t take your counter offer but frankly this could be going far worse.
