Thanks - however it wasn’t the case with the HB flats, but I’ll definitely use the P now (also have a Squier 40th anniversary jazz bass with rounds) for the practice (doing the “Technique accelerator course” at another bass site now), we’ll see.
But already put the La Bella suggestion to my notes, next time I’ll go for those definitely - thank you!
Well, daily ~1 hour average time put into the Fender flats and sounds better already but - it’s the E string I am still not happy with. So probably pull the trigger on the LaBella - I only have the following questions:
does it make sense to get the 760FS or the 760FL? Any recommendation (and/or explanation)?
would you put these Fenders to the Jazz Bass to replace the rounds there with a slightly “zingy” flat set, especially a used set?
760 FL and 760 FS are much of a muchness. FS are gauge .043-104; FL are .045-.105. Not a big difference, not sure I would notice.
You have a third choice with LaBella, the Low Tension flats. These are round core, more flexible, and are I think .042-100. They have more pronounced mids - more zingy in tech speak.
The DTFs can feel stiff but have more of an old school vibe, the LTFs are flexible but a little more modern vibe.
My d’addario flats sounded brighter than my old nickel rounds when i first put them on.
I still haven’t put my 0760M deep talkin flats on. my pbass yet because i want to record something with the rounds before i make the change and i haven’t gotten around to it yet
Best strings I’ve invested in and certainly have spoilt me in so many ways.
I do like the fender flats as I’ve said before but they are definitely not on the same level as TI’s
Now I am very much confused… And indeed 5 minutes ago ordered the La Bella 760FL set; hope it’ll be awesome but would like to learn what’s that 760M?
And once there I have added a 40th Anniversary P (in Matte Vintage Blonde color w/gold pickguard) as now available for 299EUR also for me. I guess can’t stop GAS, right?
So I’ll leave the Fender flats on the Sonic and test the La Bellas on the 40th Anniversary. But eventually sell one of them. And report back of course.
