It’s probably the easiest key to play, even easier than Cmaj/Am
Absolutely
TGJ appear to have a new release out with 5 tracks on it:
I don’t know if it is actually new but says “updated today” (you can buy/download from Amazon).
If you click through to YouTube it’ll take you to the complete playlist.
Wow, thanks Mike C.
I’m watching it right now and wow.
Yeah, man! This is several historic firsts in the making: bass soloing, use of harmony (chording) and plucking/slapping techniques. Great to see before the bass world would be affected forever.
I was thinking along those lines while watching it.
Hiromi is one of the most extraordinary pianists/keyboardists out there and always seems to be having the most unadulterated fun when she’s playing!
She was playing a really solid 303 line there until the bass player popped in and ruined it!
…ok he was great too, just kidding
Miles Davis “Kind of Blue”
Charles Mingus “Blues and More”
John Coltrane “Coltrane’s Sound”
Sonny Rollins “Our Man In Jazz”
Yes to all.
Here’s someone you’ve maybe not heard of: Patricia Barber. I’ve been following her since she moved to Chicago from a small Iowa farm town in the late '80s. Terrific piano and B3 player. I used to catch her as often as possible on her regular Monday night gig at the Green Mill. Her bassist was the supremely talented Michael Arnopol. The bassline in this song is what motivated me to learn to play a fretless and to order a 3K+ € Marco Marcústico. On a fretted bass, I struggled with the first two notes. Once I Melodyne’d it, I saw that the first note is 50 cents sharp and the second note is 25 cents sharp. The rest of the 8 minutes is in perfect F major. Lordy, but I love this song: Too Rich For My Blood.
