Maybe you think so, but I thought it was telling him hes right up there with one of my favorite bass players.
He got a kick out of it, and I even gave him the Wayne’s world, I’m not worthy bow.
We both laughed about that and our conversation was very joyful with other laughter included.
There is occasionally so called weird things I may say but with decades of cold call sales and public speaking throughout my life my experiences talking with people often leave them laughing and with memorable moments they long remember.
Copenhagen, DK
and Europe in general = not much good comedy comes from that part of the world.
Kinda stiff in gesture and humor the people can be, and your an academic with who likely didn’t practice making jokes while in a lab or university settings.
No disrespect intended but observationally speaking it is not uncommon to be a little comedically challenged after spending much time at a European university. Smile and enjoy while you can.
Wow, thank you for your deep insight into the psyche and facility for humor of Europeans and academics - really glad I learned all that.
I am sorry if I offended you by my tongue-in-cheek remark followed by an appropriate emoji - it shan’t happen again.
Not an issue or problem… I’ll brush up on my emoji meanings, hahaha.
Bass on, bass brother…
= bass is cool.
That’s my emoji meanings.
Again no disrespect intended.
But European comedy when found can be good its just not easily found.
That’s a great video.
I for one think Jörg is funny.
Wait, that didn’t come out right…
Hah, hadn’t seen that before now…
Thanks, Howard - I guess I am very likely both (one of them on good days, the other on most of the other days)
With larger-than-life Texan Kirk Covington (so, this one’s for @MikeC for sure):
(Ah, can’t play embedded, it seems… sorry!)
Never really been a big fan of Toots (or, perhaps, the harp), but no doubt this guy had more musicality in his little toe than I have in my entire body.
And a beautiful rendition of a Jaco classic
Been loving listening to Hiromi’s Tiny Desk concert with her quartet Sonicwonder. Having enormous fun (as always). Interesting to watch the finger picking style of the bassist. It’s almost guitar finger picking style and he gets some nice grooves with it.
Oh, I haven’t watched this one in a while. It is so great. I never noticed the bass players technique. Interesting.
It took me a while to spot it but he has a transparent ramp and actually uses it to anchor his pinky some of the time when he’s playing using thumb and fingers.
Diana is Canadian!!
Her husband is Elvis Costello.
Well, that’s Hadrien Feraud, arguably one of the best bass players in the world right now (I know, I know, who’s really to say ). That style is basically “palm muting”, which can be varied from very muted to quite punchy!
Well I certainly loved his sound. Embarrassingly I’ve not heard of him before. Yet another rabbit hole for me to go down!
@joergkutter beat me to the post, but here’s mine anyway.
That bassist is not just any player. That’s the astounding bass genius Hadrien Feraud playing his Mayones Hadrien Feraud Signature bass. Our own @joergkutter is the proud owner of at least one of those 4-string bad mofos.
