I remember when Tutu was released. I had a cassette player in my car, so I bought the prerecorded cassette. I popped it in while still in the parking lot, and wound up listening to the entire album before leaving the lot.

Posted this in “Whatcha Listin ta Now?” but it certainly sits nicely within this thread. I bought everything I could find David Sanborn on, at one time. So I guess my previous post here highlights my aging memory, as I actually got into Jazz in 1985, rather than 88.

Found this over the holidays - an entire live performance of Donald Fagen’s “The Nightfly” album by the Reykjavik Tribute Orchestra. Incredible performance of a classic:

I’ll watch this later on my 65” Sony Bravia OLED TV. It’s audio playback quality is excellent without the need for a soundbar.
Eiður reps the bass community wearing a concert/band T-shirt. 
…and likely has the least expensive instrument on the stage (Squier Affinity PJ). That’s a cool cat.

This band, SML, are becoming one of my favourite contemporary jazz groups, and they just posted this improvised jam. Anna Butterss is a great bassist and uses really minimalist lines. Anna plays bass on Flea’s new album, I don’t think you can get any more bass cred than that!
