Haha, I think I had this here only a few weeks ago

Always good for another listen; my favorite HF composition.

Absolutely!

I ran across it the other day in my FB feed and it was so good I decided to bring it to the fore once more. It’s a great performance.

Great bassline! Great bass! What a great way to grow up. Major envy for Ellen. She’s becoming world class.

The title “13 Town” is intentional.

The tune and Ellen’s bass line is an homage to Jaco’s playing on Weather Report’s classic “Teen Town.”

Marcus Miller with a full orchestra. He plays a bass clarinet at 40 minutes, then switches to a fretless bass and ends on a great arrangement of Tutu, with a very cool fretless bass line. He presented the tune to Miles who ran with it and made it the title track of one of his last albums.

Sonny Rollins was the last surviving subject of this photo. True end of an era.

Some really cool behind the scenes photos here: A Great Day in Harlem: behind Art Kane's classic 1958 jazz photograph | Jazz | The Guardian

Such a great photo, taken by Art Kane for Esquire on August 12, 1958. One of my favorite jazz bassists, Wilbur Ware, got the top spot for his name. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

His only album as the leader…
