A nice little multi-function chinese fan, a nice little Vox head-and-cab amp, and, otherwise… well… I think this is the first time I’ve ever told a guy he doesn’t need another bass… :face_without_mouth:

And now, The question : among these basses, which one do you prefer in terms of playability and the pleasure of hearing it through the amp and running your fingers over it?

Well my favorite has to be the BBNE2, the Cutlass Bass and the latest addition the Alembic.

But seriously to avoid favoring one over another I usually play one song with 10 basses.

Here are 7 and none are mine, they are all belong to @booker_t , I was at his place a couple of weeks ago. That was a religious experience playing with those ladies. :joy:

I’ve watched this probably half a dozen times since I joined the forums, because the song has special meaning to me, and just now connected the dots to the Lignum (my favorite of the three.)

That Sire V10dx after those first two Foderas is just enormous. I do love those FGN Mighty Powers, though!

I played through all the songs I’ve worked on in School of Rock so far tonight with my defretted StingRay Ray4 (still feels weird to say fretless since it used to have them and the slots are still there). I’m really liking it. Much easier than I was expecting. I think it kind of forces fretting technique, and I’m getting more used to where the note should be faster without looking. It’s even helping to play the fretted basses better, I think.

That’s a Mayones Jabba custom.
In the order of first appearance

Fodera '82 Victor Wooten
Fodera YinYang Ebony
Mayones Jabba custom
Music Man Retro '70s Stingray, Opened that morning
FGN Blue
FGN Grey
Fodera Monarch 4 P (solo) That tone is just a killer with TI Jazz Flats

I stand corrected. You gotta admit, though, that they’re quite similar. Even headstock shape.

I concede. I’d love to put a Sire against that line up too. Not so much for the tone, I’m sure it sounds just as good, but for the feel. I own many Stingray and that Retro '70s definitely feels different.

You know you have made it technique wise when you just played on seven very different basses but they all sounded like Al

Man, I just ran across this video for the first time. Damn, those basses, back to back, are beyond great! Really fine playing, @Al1885! A great workout, all around.

A Sire V10X is a great bass. I love Sire for their consistently great builds and materials.

That said, a custom-built Mayones Jabba like Booker’s is several magnitudes of excellence beyond that. Mayones is absolutely superb in every way.

Not denying that at all. Was just pointing out that it’s easy to mistake that particular one for the Sire given the close resemblance.

Yep, it’s not like Sire was aiming to copy Mayones either, both offers Jazz profile offset body. Great credit to Sire for such great work.

Thanks man.
On one hand the basses plays themselves they are that awesome, on the other hand, they are so responsive I got distracted several times. The theme seemed to be Wow! That feels so responsive.

That said I can feel your influence on @booker_t string choices as over half are TIs :joy:
