Also, consider this my application to the fn club. Thanks to @stevfargan for pointing this thread out to me.
Dang! It’s gorgeous @Shibata
I think this is my favorite fretless i have ever seen.
That is gorgeous, would love to hear a sound clip of it. What is the brand?
Stradi
Thanks guy’s. I can’t wait to get it. Here is some pictures of the back. It has a pau ferro veneer on back and the volume, tone and coil selector cleverly hidden in the electronics plate.
I’m in love.
Thought I’d contribute as I currently have a case of GAS for my 2nd bass after upgrading amp. (Fender Rumble 25 → Ampeg Micro CL2 stack)
My heart fell into it when I thought:
5 STRINGS
NO FRETS
JAZZ BASS!
(I currently have a 4 string precision, so this would be wildly different.)
So of course, the Sire Marcus Miller stuff really jumped out at me:
But the only one I can find is in France on reverb, website says discontinued, and I’d prefer the V5 Vol Vol Tone knobs. I have “my guy” at Sweetwater digging around to see if he can acquire one, but I’m not sure if other manufacturers have exactly what I’m looking for in this price range ($600-$1200?)
Fender Player Series - not sure if 5 Strings
Ibanez - haven’t looked
Warwick - Rock Bass but kind of want singles not humbuckers.
Anyone have anything to say “keep looking for what you want” or favor to another brand?
Well, you might want to check out the Gary Willis line from Ibanez - 5 string fretless with a “jazz-type”/modern sound. Only one pickup (Bartolini), towards the bridge. They come in different variants, finishes and prices:
Here you go: Sire Marcus Miller Fretless V5 5-string Jazz $555, plus about $65 shipping (approx.).
My project Bass is fretless, will post it here when complete
This item is unavailable it says it’s currently shipping to someone by May 8th (hopefully shipping goes well for… that person)
Also thank you! I never even considered Thomann.
Sorry, it was showing as in stock and available when I posted. I hope you find what you’re re looking for.
I don’t know what level of sarcasm were on, so I just wanted you to know I grabbed it
Hee, hee, hee.
I know.
I’m currently in the process of joining the fretless fan club. I ordered mine yesterday from sound of music in kokomo, Indiana. I figured as I’m now buying a house here, shopping locally plays into my gear decisions.
They didn’t have what i wanted on hand, but it arrives next week. Since i can’t hold it in my grubby fists, i didn’t pay for all of it. I just put 30% down to mark it as mine.
I ordered the esp ltd b204. Anyone got any input on this? I played one before and it was like butter.
that reminds me that i should get to my project of replacing the opamp on my GWB35
I don’t know the fretless but this line is exceptional for the price. I have a six string b206 and it’s crazy good.
Why? Is it broken? Or don’t you like the on-board pre-amp? (I am assuming you meant the entire pre-amp, and not just a single/specific op-amp!?!)
