So I went to Guitar Center…
The cajon I wanted was a $180 to $130 sale, a Schlagwerg which is a good brand iirc from YouTube.
Only one they had in stock was the floor model and it was broken -_-
So I played the Luna one, and it sounds a lot better in person. I guess Luna needs to work on their mic’ing technique
Naturally they only had the floor model for that one, too. sighs It was actually in its bag, though, so I figure the guy was fairly accurate in saying nobody had really messed with it.
I took it home anyway. Really have to slap the McShit out of it to get the snares to pop (this one has actual snares) but the bass sounds better than the Echoslap one that looks like an old crate (I kinda liked that look).
The Luna bag is waaaay better and actually has a little padding and a pocket for stuff. Not that I’ll ever leave the house with it likely lol. I was reminded of why I hate leaving the house and avoid humans at all costs…
I’m going to see if there is a way to make the snares more… snare. Might be inherent to the birch it’s made out of, though.
Should I keep it, I’ll probably lightly sand it and then use a grey stain on it. I think that’ll look good and should blacken up the etching on it as well. Then probably satin finish it to seal it.
They actually had an Aerodyne for $600
…but it had a huge chunk taken out of it by the jack lol. Oh well.
They also had some basses from Bohemian with J pickups and bodies made from like, paint cans or something. Wonder what they sound like
I should have played one, but by that time I had a huge baby on my back and the store wasn’t open for much longer. They had a Hartke 2x10 for $280, but yeah, no lol.
