GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome (Part 1)

To me, drumming seems fascinating and very cool, until I sit down to do it.

You lucky son of a something. I’m looking for an inexpensive P - i’d even take one from hippies.

My snarky way of saying nice

Lots of good reviews of this guy….

If had room I would nab one and mod it, but I am totally out of room.

I would have been put off of it due to their 5kg J-Bass, which seems about to collapse under its own gravitational pull; but apparently it’s 3.8kg, which is quite nice.

Just watched this today. Gregor was impressed with the Harley Benton PB-20 SBK.

I have never shipped anything overseas, but I will give it a shot. I am really GASing for a Dimarzio Relentless P, or split P

I just put that in the basket to see the cost. $150 CDN and $69 shipping. That’s nuts.

I am fairly certain Thomann is stocking stuff in the US to seek global domination. They now have a https://www.thomannmusic.com/ US site etc.
My shipping would be $75 and would arrive on Tuesday (2 days).
I honestly wish I needed this or had a slot for it, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

$216USD total to Japan. Pretty crazy for a new instrument shipped overseas.

Yes shipping was $75 USD, total under $200US. I need another bass why?

To test my soldering skills. Of course

I mean, there is no way I would buy one - you can get used Squiers here for less. Just found a bunch for about $150 here (with shipping). But it’s a hell of a price for a new bass.

So I went to Guitar Center…

The cajon I wanted was a $180 to $130 sale, a Schlagwerg which is a good brand iirc from YouTube.

Only one they had in stock was the floor model and it was broken -_-

So I played the Luna one, and it sounds a lot better in person. I guess Luna needs to work on their mic’ing technique :eyes:

Naturally they only had the floor model for that one, too. sighs It was actually in its bag, though, so I figure the guy was fairly accurate in saying nobody had really messed with it.

I took it home anyway. Really have to slap the McShit out of it to get the snares to pop (this one has actual snares) but the bass sounds better than the Echoslap one that looks like an old crate (I kinda liked that look).

The Luna bag is waaaay better and actually has a little padding and a pocket for stuff. Not that I’ll ever leave the house with it likely lol. I was reminded of why I hate leaving the house and avoid humans at all costs…

I’m going to see if there is a way to make the snares more… snare. Might be inherent to the birch it’s made out of, though.

Should I keep it, I’ll probably lightly sand it and then use a grey stain on it. I think that’ll look good and should blacken up the etching on it as well. Then probably satin finish it to seal it.

They actually had an Aerodyne for $600 :open_mouth: …but it had a huge chunk taken out of it by the jack lol. Oh well.

They also had some basses from Bohemian with J pickups and bodies made from like, paint cans or something. Wonder what they sound like  I should have played one, but by that time I had a huge baby on my back and the store wasn’t open for much longer. They had a Hartke 2x10 for $280, but yeah, no lol.

Sorry, I just typed that and the forum made it a link. I corrected it.

I’ve been checking and used Squiers are more. So, it’s a new Bass adventure for me.

Look up videos on adjusting. There is usually an adjustment inside and the top 5 screws are for adjusting tone too.

Quick/Dirty photoshop (well, a GIMPshop lol)

Yeah, it came with an allen wrech for it.

IIRC the top 5 screws get loosened/tightened to help adjust the snare, kick and ‘high hat’ (upper corners) tones.

That would make sense, since the snare wires are on the left and right sides.

Turns out it’s the outermost left and right screws, and “never the middle one” or something.

The allen wrench is stuck into it like the legendary sword in the stone :joy: and apparently I am not going to be crowned ruler…

Edit I AM CROWNED

I forgot to mention the SM57 I got for like $45 that has seen some shit :joy:

story behind it is that it was in a storage unit some woman bought lol…

It works, though, so hey…

Edit Oh yeah, they had one of those Gretsch shorty basses in pink XD
