Picked these up last weekend but then got hit with a sinus infection that knocked me down for a few days…
Anyways, drove about an hour out of Atlanta to rural Georgia to scoop up this Ampeg SVT-15e.
It’s it pretty good shape with mostly minor tolex scratches and I’m loving the fuller sound it produces. Additionally, it’s not nearly as heavy as I thought it would be.
Also ordered in a Darkglass head to power the cab. MicroTubes 500 v2, and this is also providing some nice sounds. I was wary at first since most of the Darkglass demos were shredding metal tones but this thing can do clean tones nicely as well.
Now if I can just shake that P Bass GAS… (considering that a Sire P5 has joined the shortlist, I may already be doomed)
The review by Amos Heller I posted in December shows quite well the versatility of the amp.
And I got the notification that my DG112N cab is ready for delivery at last
And yes @cheeze_pizza , you should get a P-bass to get rid of that lingering uncertainty
His videos were a big factor in helping me choose this amp. The way he broke down the sound in each sample was pretty awesome. He’s an awesome player to boot! The guy definitely needs more views.
The Sire P5 is an excellent P bass. It was on my shortest list before I scored my Cutlass. If it hadn’t been for the EBMM Modern Classic showing up out of the blue, I’d be rocking a P5 now.
I was planning on putting Nordstrand NP4 pups on my P5.
My Sire D5 is fantastic. I wish I could tell you something to dissuade you.
Oh yeah. It has an ugly tort pickguard. No bueno
There, gas solved
Beauty!
Nice… but that neck on @Wombat-metal 's build (i hope that pink and that white sticker will go, though… )
I love block inlays
I gas over those basses, out of my price range though
Ooooooooooooh - that’s a gorgeous bass as well
That is a beautiful piece right there!
No such thing. Tort rules.

No such thing. Tort rules.
There you have it
Is this a Milton kind of “rule”, like being better to rule in hell than serve in heaven?
One man’s hell is another man’s heaven. Some prefer bizarro-shaped basses, some like tort.
