Almost complete
Can I just say that neck looks gorgeous?
That’s really great looking, @Wombat-metal. Congrats.
Finally got around to doin mine the other day too, they’re so good!
Yeah Schaller are the best I have tried.
Deserves a better background for the shoot, though
Man, that bass could cure me of my P-bass allergy
I’ll try and get a carpet
Not a carpet, a rug
Yeah, carpets just don’t tie in the room together.
I need a rug for the pics of my inbound Frost Green Pearl Stingray! I’ll work on it.
You know what they say…
“Measure twice… buy anyway.”
LoL!
Here’s a bit of background. I used to office/studio/man-cave in the garage. We’d set it up super nice with insulated walls, a dedicated A/C unit, etc., etc., etc. Recently, I swapped with my son, giving the garage to him and taking over his room inside.
When I was in the garage, I could play bass all day at almost any volume level. And I did… I’d be in work Zoom calls on mute running scales, riffs, or just noodling. I can’t do that inside; my GF also works from home and can’t be on her Zoom calls with “BUM BUM BUM BUM BUM BUM BUM BUM” going on in the background.
So, I resorted to headphones, both on my amp and on my DAI. Which has been great, however, I wear glasses and the headphones have been pushing my ear into the arms of my glasses, and I’m just getting tired of wearing headphones all the time. So I picked up one of these:
I’m sure you all know, it’s a little, battery-operated 3w amp with a 3" speaker.
Um.
It does the job. It allows me to play bass without headphones. It’s not loud, and it doesn’t travel throughout the house. It has a… passable tone, not very much low end, and if I gain/volume/EQ too much it distorts to high heaven. I can easily bring it to other rooms with me, or the back yard, so if I want to noodle elsewhere without disturbing my family I can do so. It does have inputs for an MP3 player/iPhone/Android and a headphone out, so that’s a plus, I guess.
I don’t know if I’d recommend one to others, though. It’s an OK fit for my unique situation, but I’d bet that any one of the small amps from Fender or Hartke or whatever would have met the need, other than being able to play anywhere without AC power. Maybe it’d be good for college students living in a dorm, or something, while their bigger amp stays at home.
I really liked my Blackstar Fly but sold it when I got the Spark Mini.
Fyi you can add an extension speaker to the Fly making it sound a bit louder and better imo.
I have the Joyo and it has “um” (lol) tone too, and I don’t use it.
Have you considered in ear wired headphones? I travel with these and they are great!

Yes. But then I wouldn’t be able to mute work calls and noodle, since I’m wearing a headset for those calls.
Buy a bigger monitor and sit closer to it. You know like old people do when they sit closer to the windshield when they drive.
Buy over-ear headphones then? Much more comfortable.
