GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome (Part 1)

Cheers for that find! A lot of Ampeg guitar stuff gets overlooked but it sounds spectacular. Plus all the bits is even better.
It’s near the rug… but is it ON the rug…

Uhmm I used to have 14 different guitars and basses but when I got a few that I absolutely loved I finally sold a lot of the 14… and so what I started doing was selling them and building on a rig… like a dream rig every time I woulf sale a piece I would acquire a piece of the dream rig… I don’t know why but getting rif of some of the stuff I had took a lot of weight off my shoulders… my amp is not the dream amp I would have but ever since I started adding to it to make it better it sounds. A lot better and even though it’s not the greatest I enjoy it a lot… I currently need two more pedals, and one hipshot extender to switch to drop d, and a power supply. I am going to add the bass whammy and the darkglass b3k v2. I have the darkglass alpha omega uktra but I prefer my sans amp over the preamp of the darkglass but still like the darkglass distortion.so I’m currently trying to sale the alpha omega ultra and I’m only asking 350 but I will sale it for 300 just to get the pedal board finished… so I have a chorus a delay a compressor and the sans amp and a digitech drop on bass stack with two tens and a fifteen… I have the chorus and the delay in the fx loop and then in front of the amp I have sans amp digitech drop them compression and poly tune mini 3. I have been super into bass vox so really been into gene Simmons, type o negative, police, Motörhead. I’m also really into bass players who play with picks so the killers, Dave elleffson and but I have also practiced with my fingers alot and came a long way with them to… so that would be my suggestion, envision your dream setup and sale bits and pieces of the gear you have acquired and put the money towards your dream setup. You will be much more happy… I know I was…

100% understand. I usually just own two instruments. I own four now and am getting itchy, but I don’t want to get rid of any of them

I’m definitely not a collector. Some people love that though and I get that.

@creepymcpeepers is on the right track as far as I’m concerned. I used to be a gear gatherer ( guitars mostly before I turned towards bass) now just a Strat, a jazz, a P and a short scale bass. Rumble 100 amp for the bass with a Zoom MS-60 pedal and a Boss Katana for the Strat. It all fits nicely in the back part of the spare bedroom and takes up very little space. Been like this for going on two years. It may not be a “dream set up” but it’s perfect for me, I’m happy, I’m satisfied and cured of GAS.

I’m mostly there with you. I have a rumble 100 and a boss katana for my amps, a tele, an acoustic for guitars. Too many basses. I have a short scale fretless coming in, a P, a Jazz, a Double P, and the rest I could honestly sell. My collecting days are numbered.

We should start a new thread: SOG - Send Others Gear.
Whenever anyone feels they are cured of GAS, they should go to SOG and send me some of their gear. That will result in more stable GAS levels.

You could try the SAG thread! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Edit: for some reason when I try to copy/paste the link to the SAG thread it changes to the GAS thread lol

It’s a vicious cycle.

But here goes:

No. SOG would be SEND others gear. “Selling” is a totally different thing. lol.

Apparently the mini stills run the old software from the Ampero one. The Ampero II has the new software but bigger form factor

And bigger $ factor

Yeah, it’s just a bit silly that they didn’t used the new software in the mini (maybe they will update it, who knows). Personally I would go for the mini too! They are very cute
