Feh. Says you. Personally, I go full Highlander with a big sword and trench coat at all times. You never know when Kurgan is going to show up.
“I’m only going to highlight a few” - dozen lol.
Amazing.
I immediately thought of you when this popped up in my feed ![]()
Wow! That’s something else. Did he say 200 basses? I know he said 200 pedals, like a guitar player ha ha. @booker_t has Bergantino amp, they are deliciously amazing, don’t see them around often.
That’s definitely an inspiration the guy has been playing and collecting for 40 plus years. That’s next level stuffs
I am sure you took a lot of notes for your next acquisitions ![]()
So does @John_E and yours truly - cool amps!
Gotta admit, I’m not familiar with the brand. But from what little I’ve seen, it looks gig-worthy and battle-ready.
If you ever get a chance to try one (with a Bergantino cab), play your Jabba through it and finally hear what your bass really sounds like ![]()
Joke aside - they just provide a very clean (but not sterile) sound and have some built-in filters and EQ to help you tackle different venues, and are just overall well designed and made.
Yep, judging by the gear’s looks and specs, I figured it was serious. Not to mention its price point.
There’s a Bergantino dealer in town. I just might mosey on over there to kick the tires on a floor rig, just for the hell of it.
You really should. Might not be what you like in the end, but at least you gave it a spin ![]()
He’s got more basses in that room than 99% of the music stores I’ve ever been to.
I’ve been a bit quiet around these parts with my bass acquisitions and divestitures as of late. But I have to share this.
This past Sunday I brought a couple of my unused basses (not my Aerodyne, for those playing the home game) down to my local Guitar Center to see if I could get some quick cash for some non-bass stuff. I know GC tends to buy used on the cheap, but I figured I’d give them a try before I went through the hassle of listing them on OfferUp/Reverb.
Anyway, while they were checking out the instruments and coming up with an offer for them, of course I was browsing the basses. They had a couple of used Carvins and a used Fender Dimension… all out of my price range, and regardless, I wasn’t looking to buy.
But then this beautiful rosewood fretboard, arched top, vintage sunburst bass caught my eye. It reminded me so much of the Carvin finishes I used to drool over at the Carvin store in Santa Ana back in the day. Like an idiot, I played it. It felt fantastic playing it, and the sound was great. Dual humbuckers with active pre-amp… volume, pickup fade, bass, and treble pots. It had a bite to it, but not so much that there wasn’t a warmth as well.
So, I wound up using their offer to buy this beauty. It certainly helped that you get a 10% discount off new gear when trading in used gear, so I actually got money back. Not much, only like $20 or so, but it funded a decent lunch on the way home!
I’ve mentioned in other posts that there is a veritable cornucopia of EMF swirling around my house that blows through the stock shielding on almost every bass I’ve ever owned, requiring me to completely re-shield and re-ground each bass or regale my ears with an absolutely un-musical buzz. But this bass, when I got it home, does not buzz at all! It’s perfectly silent.
And the bass in question is?
…a Shecter Omen 4 Extreme in vintage sunburst.
(This is not mine, this is a stock photo from the Schecter site. Eventually I’ll take my own pictures and post it in the proper thread.)
Oh cool! Schecter are great, and always great to see another double-buck fan.
@Barney I love those Olfa, I own 3 and use them all the time. Best ones I know.
They are. Inexpensive, too.
Just ordered 3.
Damn you people!
I have 4, three 18mm and one 25mm. Love them!
I have a bunch of their art knives as well, basically scalpels. Very good brand.
