GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome (Part 1)

Yes, because you never know when you need a cheap bass to deal with burglars.

Answer from this group is always ‘yes’.
How much is it?

With any bass on the el cheapo, the big question is always the one that is generally the hardest or most costly to change, the neck.
Since this is not a bolt on, then this is even more important.
If the neck is crap, then you have a anti-theft device as per @Barney

Have you searched or asked on talkbass? You might get some insight there.

Assume that anything you get… is a kit. And a bad kit at that. Assume some assembly required and the frets are not level, nor trimmed, something isn’t grounded properly and one tuner doesn’t function properly to save it’s life. Then… If you don’t HAVE to do any of those things before you enjoy it, it’s like donuts for dinner!!! Happy days!

How much is it? Could be a fun project, but don’t expect high quality from Aliexpress

We need a Bad Burst thread. Bursts can be great, and yet there are so many that are not.

I know, I know… Citation Needed on the “can be great” part. Ok, well, I really liked the Dark Red Burst on my TRBX…

but then, for every good burst, there’s things like this LP:

I prefer darker bursts, definitely no clown burst (unless you call MapleGlo clownburst curious)
I am one of those sick puppies who likes a good Antigua or brown burst but also anything a bit different.

That is a tool of trade for us Melbourians @Barney

Update on Yamaha YH-WL500 Wireless Headphones.
I finally received them and I’m kind of bummed. There is white noise that is loud when plugged into my Mesa amp. :frowning: Tried a shielded audio cable and moving the transmitter away for the amp, but still the noise persists.
Now, I did try them with my Yamaha THRII and no noise, then I tried it with an electric piano as well as an electric drum set…again, no noise.
I was thinking that the adapter from 3.5mm to 1/4 plug was the issue, so tried a few different adapters, but no luck. The other devices that work fine do not need an adapter because they have 3.5mm plugins. FYI-the Mesa amp has no noise when plugging in wired headphones.

So, if you were thinking of ordering these, just know that you may have a white noise issue depending on what you plugged them into.

Did you try a different socket or move your amp in a different room? All my noise problems were always power/ground related.

Also try to put your ear against the cab if you hear any noise. It can be still there but very softly.

For my edification @heart92262

Is the Mesa amp solid state or tube?

Ha!

I wasn’t expecting to have clear favorites and I really wasn’t expecting them to be completely different from what I have. It’s luckily not a possibility, but I sure did have fun exploring!

I especially wasn’t expecting to like the 2x12 better than a 4x10.

Strings in hand for the flight home.

Going to the actual Sweetwater store is a bucket list item of mine. So jealous!

That’s interesting!

I have two (separate) 1x12 units and like them a lot - I think it’s the best compromise of sound, output power, footprint and “luggability” (and I can take one or both depending on the occasion).
