GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome (Part 1)

All that is needed is a little push to talk about German Gear Acquisition Syndrome

Are you looking for someone to talk you out of getting an Ampeg stack? In here?? You, sir, must have sampled a bit too much mulled wine, it appears :joy:

Jerry, I played one of the heads at the local Sam Ash and I really loved the sound. It wasn’t connected to the 210 cab but rather an used and rather ratty looking SWR 4x10 cabinet. I was half tempted to take it but the cab was stupidly heavy…

I will also note that the heads can be had on Reverb for a few bucks less if you have a gander.

I love the Sandbergs where you have to play “hunt the dots” to find them

Does @Paul_9207 not have something similar?

I played one at a store in Rochester and really loved it. It’s just fantastic. I ended up going with the Phil Jones Cub-120 but could have easily bought this one. I was just fascinated how Phil Jones does what they do with 5” speakers.

The only negative I can think of is neither of us have one. :smiling_imp:

I love mine! I keep it in my office. Honestly, I just think they look so cool. I’m not sure if there is anything that makes it better than my ampeg 210 combo amp, except that it looks so cool! It sounds good too, small footprint. My only complaints are: I bought the head and cab separately, cab was used. And the grilles don’t match. And the power switch broke a few months ago, but I was able to fix that. Also, have I mentioned how cool I think they look?

I’d thought about the Micro-CL stack, but in the end I decided a combo would be more portable since people at work have hinted at jammin too. :+1:
Both the bass (Sire Marcus Miller V3) and amp (Ampeg RB - 112) new this week :joy:
Fret buzz all but gone, now that I realise it was basically me just trying too hard :joy:

I really disliked the fan noise and returned it. Other than that it was amazing. The CL version is fanless. Funny enough we talked about this in an other thread too!

Perish the thought!! I am planning for next year’s big purchase and I think I have enough basses so I going to start saving my schekels for a new amp.

Thanks for your input @cheeze_pizza .

Thanks John.

They do look cool and the consensus is they sound great too. Thanks Paul.

Is the fan really loud @Paul ?

Ampeg is definitely my favorite sound for a bass amp, specifically the SVT.

Well not loud, but it is constantly running. Not a big deal if you are playing. It’s still in my top 5 of amps that I really liked.

The new Venture V3 could be a nice alternative

Well then, you obviously need one of these marvelous things :sunglasses:

I love mine.

no

I have many amp sims for this

I think @JerryP needs one of those and a powered cabinet.

I mean what he needs is the new Venture Amp and matching Cab (it’s basically the same as my SGT-DI).

But you just bought a physical synthesizer. It’s too late to turn back now @howard give in to it, it is your…

Guilty! Actually I bought three

But that’s like buying basses, not pedals. I will still be recording them dry. And I will still be using the virtual instruments as well as they are much more powerful overall than the specific synths I bought (all analog monosynths - they aren’t even polyphonic. They can’t play chords in the same sense as a polyphonic synthesizer or physical piano or organ).

Really like those, but I think if I’m gonna get somethin like that, it’s gonna have to be the Orange Bass Butler :ok_hand:

If you want an Orange sound that’s a better bet. But not if you want an Ampeg sound
