Still at least 10 basses missing in my arsenal

If it’s about your wife’s pressure test, be sure to wear eye and ear protection.

By the way, good catch - I even have another gig bag in storage. I have a hard time upgrading and getting rid of old gear.

Maybe also GAS for some groin protection just to be on the safe side!

I’ve noodled around on a Sugi bass. They are frikin amazingly beautiful. The craftsmanship is amazing. For me though, they are too much like a really customized and super high-end Ibanez soundgear.

Check out this custom inlayed Sugi - Sugi NB4MLR BP/40MAHO/NAT [Bass Collection 15th Anniversary Order Model](新品)【楽器検索デジマート】

Wow, the inlays is out of this world. Love the pickups cover too. This is pretty next level when it comes to detail.

Even the gold doesn’t look out of place on it!

Been looking at Sire M5/7 and nearly every review is a 5 string. I’ve never played a 5 string but I’m wondering if for a bass like this if it’s better to get the 5 string version or to stick with 4 string like I’m used to.

Do you have a need for the B string?

If the answer is yes, do you have a need for a G string?

BEAD tuning is a very real option, you only lose 5 notes on the G string (in a place rarely played)

If there is something you want to play that requires a 5 string by all means get one, but don’t rule BEAD out either

Hey @Adampalooza, here are two in-depth walk-throughs of a 4-string Sire M5. Lots of tone options demos not found elsewhere. I have a blonde M5 just like the one in the videos.

I haven’t needed the B string yet but I also haven’t attempted anything that would need it yet. I have considered BEAD but I would need a thicker string to replace the E right?

Thanks for this. I will check these out. I could have swore he did his review on a 5 string as well

Well, there’s needing and needing a 5 string bass. I’m getting close to the end of B2B and I’m strongly considering just getting a cheap 5 string bass just because…

Hello Bass Friends-

My name is Blake- and I think I may have Gear Acquisition Syndrome. I bought a compression pedal, thinking why would I need anything else ever? But suddenly I’m up to four pedals (added SansAmp Bass DI, Octave and Tuner)- and why would I need anything else after that? Except now I need a board for all my pedals. Surely what more could I need now?! Sigh.

Fuzz, distortion, overdrive, EQ, envelope filter, phaser.:joy::rofl:

Edit: Looper, and delay would both open up practice options.

I’m kinda interested in sticking with passive basses (or basses that I can keep in passive mode) and putting money into a decent EQ, also a fuzz and a tuner. From the bit of digging I’ve done, the Zoom might scratch that itch for me.

Add a signal splitter if you want to distort highs/mids and pass lows like the darkglass pedals have built in, chorus, and who can forget a wah pedal which definitely gets a lot of use with bass :eyes:

Oh oh! With the right splitter you can justify getting a guitar tube amp for your high end.
